It’s coming! The update that dropped on May 13 was quite cool, but there are plenty of indications that something bigger might be coming… something sinister. Another update? Maybe! But also, an epic battle. The Helldivers 2 developers all but told the players that the invasion of Super Earth was right around the corner. Let’s see what might await in the days to come.
Everything Points to Another Update and the Invasion of Super Earth
Let’s start with the update. So, as you know, the latest patch was actually quite great. The new enemies, the weapon customization, and most notably, the optimization were an amazing start. However, the devs are clearly working on something bigger. Players have noticed that the devs didn’t share much details about the missing Service Technician and the rework of the DSS. However, they did announce a change to the Galactic War system. Naturally, this all intrigued the players.
However, there is some solid proof, as well! One of the most prolific Helldivers 2 leakers, IronS1ghts, shared that the official PlayStation account for the Czech Republic accidentally announced the new update. “Heart of Democracy”, coming May 20th. Now, the PlayStation account in question was hastily suspended, so there is no way to confirm that this was actually true.
As for the attack on Super Earth, whether an update drops or not, it’s coming. The briefing of the latest Major Order teased: “Battle on Super Earth is inevitable”. If the MO fails (as it most likely will), the Illuminate will have a clear path to Super Earth. Furthermore, leaks showed gameplay in mega cities, alongside SEAF troops. Thus, the invasion could start as early as May 20, but the devs might decide to push it to the weekend.
Helldivers Are Full of “Copium”
Obviously, all of these announcements, leaks, and predictions are quite exciting. The Helldivers 2 community has been waiting for the invasion of Super Earth since the game dropped in February 2024. Naturally, the players shared their expectations and wishes.
DrunkenSwordsman listed all the things they’d like to see in the game as soon as May 20. They noted: “…an Illuminate Factory Strider equivalent. One more new Voteless equivalent (if the Fleshmob is the ‘failed experiment’, what was the successful one?). New Illuminate missions”.
Other players suggested that the Helldivers hadn’t seen all the Illuminate units just yet. There have been plenty of leaks showing off Obelisks and Illusionists, yet these units are nowhere to be seen.
Medical_Officer added: “Yep… we will finally get to fight alongside living SEAF soldiers. I just hope that they surprise us with some new content to make up for the useless meme warbond. It would make sense. The homeworld is under attack, open all the armories”.
