Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been officially delayed until 2026. There are many exciting Marvel video games in development, and Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is taking players on a trip through Captain America’s early days as a Super Soldier in World War 2. He will be joined by Azzuri, the Black Panther of that era and king of Wakanda, and two other playable characters in the form of Howling Commandos member Gabriel Jones and Wakandan super spy Nanali.
Skydance New Media announced that it was working on a new Marvel video game with the help of Uncharted writer Amy Hennig and Marvel Comics writer and television producer Marc Bernardin back in 2021. About a year later, teaser footage of the yet-to-be-named Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was shown off during the 2022 D23 Expo showcase, and it wouldn’t be until 2024 that fans got to see a full look at the game’s plot and cast. At this time, Skydance stated that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra would be released at some point during the 2025 holiday season, but didn’t give an exact date.

How Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra distributes gameplay and narrative could be monumental for any ensemble Marvel games that happen to follow it.
Now, it looks like fans are going to have to wait a while longer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, as Skydance Games has announced that the game is being delayed until early 2026 at least. According to a new post on the official Skydance Games Twitter account, this delay is meant to give the developers more time to polish Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and ensure that players have the best possible experience that lives up to Skydance’s vision for the project. Skydance also says that there are “exciting things” in store and that the development team is looking forward to future announcements.
Marvel 1943 Delayed Until 2026
As mentioned before, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is just one of many intriguing Marvel video games being worked on currently. Insomniac has gained high praise for its Marvel’s Spider-Man series, and the PlayStation developer will continue to build its superhero gaming universe with Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 and Marvel’s Wolverine. Black Panther will also get a standalone game from EA and Cliffhanger Games, while Dead Space remake developer Motive Studios is working on an Iron Man game.
While most of these projects are presumably set in the modern day, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will instead explore the Marvel version of World War 2, a period largely unexplored in the gaming medium so far. Steve Rogers himself once said that patience was a valuable trait, and now gamers will have to wait a little bit longer for his and Black Panther’s next interactive adventure.
