Super Bowl LX is on the way, which means a bunch of commercials and trailers are about to air to promote upcoming 2026 releases. But it appears that two huge movies — Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day — might be missing from the slate of expected trailers.
As reported by Deadline, trailers for the next Neve Campbell-focused Scream movie and the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic (called Michael) will premiere during the Super Bowl. Deadline noted that Disney has historically had a showing at the Super Bowl, and suggests it’s a safe bet to expect a trailer for Lucasfilm’s upcoming Grogu and The Mandalorian. But according to Deadline, Marvel Studios isn’t planning to air any trailers at the Super Bowl.
Both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday are slated to arrive in 2026 — on July 31 and Dec. 17, respectively. Although Spider-Man has received both a cool suit reveal and even cooler behind-the-scenes footage, the film hasn’t received much promotion since. Seeing as Brand New Day is expected to arrive in about five months, the Super Bowl would’ve been a fantastic place for at least a teaser. Meanwhile, Doomsday‘s marketing has followed a slow-drip campaign sinceDecember of last year, with a string of teasers that played before screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash.
In trailers, Steve Rogers was revealed as a surprise baby daddy, Thor Odinson had his sad dad moment, and the X-Men finally received their official MCU debut, albeit through a teaser that leaked online, showing James Marsden returning as Cyclops and firing an Optic Blast in a full Jim Lee–inspired costume. Oh, yeah, the Fantastic Four met the Wakandans, too. There’s even a livestream going on, counting down the seconds before Doomsday hits theaters. But despite this push, there may not be a trailer for the next Avengers film at the Super Bowl this year.
This would be a real shame, since the last Avengers trailer that aired during the Super Bowl was one of the most memorable MCU trailers of all time. It teased an unsettled Steve Rogers, even spawning a short-lived meme mocking the character, intentionally mishearing him as saying “bananas” instead of the words he actually said, “but not us.” Hopefully, whatever new footage we see of Doomsday, whenever we see it, has more substance than cameos and action.
