To everyone’s surprise, Marvel Rivals, a game barely a month old, is nominated for the Online Game of The Year.
Marvel Rivals Nominated for Online Game of The Year at the DICE Awards 2025
Marvel Rivals was released on December 6, 2024, just over one month ago. It already proved incredibly successful, having hundreds of thousands of concurrent players. The weekend following the recent release of Season 1 resulted in more than 600.000 Marvel Rivals players, speaking to the success of NetEase’s latest project. But that is not all.
Even though it is barely a month old, Marvel Rivals has already been nominated for Online Game of The Year, at this year’s DICE Awards. This is most likely due to its incredibly successful launch of Season 1, which added The Fanstatic Four heroes to the roster, as well as new game modes and balance updates.
Marvel Rivals’ X page posted: “We’re incredibly excited to be nominated for Online Game of the Year at the #DICEAwards! A massive shoutout to our dedicated team and amazing players who made this possible! Your support means the world to us!”

Unsurprisingly, the players only have words of praise for the game and congratulate the dev on their success. “Incredible! The game is so good! I can’t say a single bad thing about it. I haven’t had this much fun playing a video game in years. YEARS!” said Tbittz15, and “I wish it goes for u guys, thank u so much for this amazing game” added AbodiP.
Getting nominated for an award only a month after the release is a massive success for any game, so congratulations to NetEase for this achievement. The winners will be revealed a month from now, and we’re sure that the game will only get better and better until then. We already have Human Torch and The Thing to look forward to, scheduled to release in about six or seven weeks.
