Over the last week or so, the community has been obsessing over the possibility of the next Season being Hellfire gala-themed. Of course, the Marvel Rivals community immediately thought of Emma Frost joining the Hero roster, but the majority of players also hoped for Jean Grey. As you know, it’s been rumored for a while that more mutants would be in the game. Players have quite a clear vision of what Jean should be like, and they gladly share it.
Jean Grey Might Be One of the Most Powerful Characters in Marvel Rivals
Jean Grey is quite a popular character. So, it isn’t at all surprising that many players root for her arrival in the game. As expected, there are countless rumors about what one should expect from her, once she drops.
One devoted fan recently shared some “confirmed” information about Jean. However, keep in mind that the source wasn’t revealed, consequentially, none of the information was confirmed, so take this with a grain of salt.
This fan shared: “A game developer revealed that Jean Grey in Marvel Rivals will have two forms. Her base form and Phoenix form. Confirmed ability in the base form: Psychic block – mutes enemies/prevents abilities for 3 seconds. Phoenix form: Resurrection – burns the area for 5secs before respawn”. The OP added: “The area of effect for both abilities have been confirmed to be global”.
This claim caused quite a commotion in the Marvel Rivals community. While some players were excited, the majority of the community was appalled. This all seemed incredibly overpowered to many players.
One of them, Isabel DeAngelis, stated: “I’m sorry what? You genuinely expect us to believe they made a *silence* that is GLOBAL on a normal ability? That’s a game-warping ult on like a 15-second cooldown. Then every time she dies the ENTIRE MAP bursts into flames? Come tf on”.
Players Hope Jean Will Be a Strategist, but…
Lately, we’ve seen several petitions for the devs to make Jean Grey a Support Hero. Players have been asking for more Strategists, and many agree that Jean would be a great fit in that role.
Difficult-Unit1701 noted: “Marvel rivals whatever you do please make Jean a Support. I’ll literally get on my knees and pray to y’all. I think she makes a good Strategist especially since the Phoenix is the essence of creation and life itself. As a support main and Jean grey lover, I need this. Us Jean fans need this”.
Techon-7 added: “Honestly of my top favorite Marvel characters. She is the best fit for Strategist, so I’m hoping with you. Just fits her character and the life and rebirth aspect of the Phoenix. Plus would create a nice psychic trio if Emma becomes a Vanguard”.
However, even though we think Jean would fit this role perfectly, multiple leaks claimed she would be a Duelist. Once again, leaks and rumors don’t always turn out to be true. Also, sometimes the devs change their mind and re-do certain aspects. The devs have been pretty amazing lately, so let’s hope they’ll listen to the community’s plea for Jean Grey.
