MCU Fans Rejoice: The New Spider-Man Suit Has Been Revealed And People Are Loving It

It’s been a long time coming, but Spider-Man: Brand New Day is finally coming down the pike as filming is officially underway. As such, the production team has decided to get ahead of leaks and simply release a first look at the new Spidey suit.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been a roaring success for Marvel and Sony since debuting in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. After the lackluster ending to Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire’s original Spider-Man trilogy and the swiftly killed-off Amazing Spider-Man series featuring Andrew Garfield, Holland felt like a breath of fresh air. You mean they actually cast a teenager to play Peter Parker in high school? Perish the thought! Holland has featured in his own Spider-Man trilogy and two Avengers films since debuting in Civil War, with all of them being box office smashes well-received by fans and critics. That being said, 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home was his last Marvel outing, meaning Brand New Day will be coming after an almost five-year wait. Will fans get excited and show up for yet another Spider-Man movie? If the online reaction to Spidey’s new MCU suit is any indication, then yes they certainly will.

Not wanting to get scooped by online leakers, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day creative team decided to bite the bullet and just release the first look at the new Spider-Man suit themselves. They’ve hardly started shooting, but they knew people would be champing at the bit to see the new suit after the momentary tease at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Leaks have been coming in hot and heavy about Brand New Day for months now, meaning a suit leak was only a matter of time. Marvel and Sony took initiative and released a short video of Tom Holland in the suit asking, “Are we ready?” Judging from first reactions, fans are into it.

It Successfully Mixes The Old And The New

It is difficult for any Spider-Man suit to be revolutionary at this point in the character’s lengthy history. Peter Parker debuted way back in 1962 and the character’s supersuit was pretty much perfected from the start. There have been both subtle tweaks and radical reinventions over the years, but Spidey’s classic red and blue suit is difficult to top. The Brand New Day suit is a more faithful adaptation of the classic suit that seemingly also pays homage to the Raimi suit of the 2000s. Early online reaction to the short clip has been very positive:

Given how poorly things have been going for Sony’s film slate of Spidey-related flicks, they need Spider-Man: Brand New Day to hit and hit big. The same goes for Marvel Studios after a rough few years at the box office, Deadpool & Wolverine notwithstanding. They have a long way to go, but the fan reception to the new suit seems to indicate they’re heading in the right direction.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to release in theaters on July 31, 2026.
