This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen series.
It goes without saying that 2025 was the year of Demon Slayer when it comes to anime domination. Demon Slayer saw the release of its biggest movie yet, titled Infinity Castle Part 1. Fans know very well that Infinity Castle went on to surpass all expectations and deliver what was an unforgettable experience for all anime fans. At the same time, it set incredibly high standards for the movies to come. Demon Slayer also continued to further establish its dominance when it comes to anime movies. Mugen Train was already huge for Demon Slayer and it set records that seem almost untouchable. However, with Infinity Castle, this untouchable aura of Demon Slayer continues to grow even further.
Demon Slayer Will Officially Kill Anime Forever
Demon Slayer’s movies are a huge hit, but they are ruining anime.
That said, Demon Slayer is not unbeatable and there exist other new anime series that can go on to rival it when it comes to big movies. At this point in time, there is only one true competitor for Demon Slayer that can go on to steal its throne eventually, and that is Jujutsu Kaisen. Jujutsu Kaisen is potentially planning for a massive Gojo vs Sukuna movie, and fans know that this battle could go on to surpass anything that they have ever seen before.
Demon Slayer Is Huge, But JJK Can Rival It
- Infinity Castle Broke All Records In 2025
- Gojo Vs Sukuna Movie Could Be Coming After JJK Season 3
Demon Slayer’s popularity cannot be understated. Before it even received an anime, Demon Slayer was absolutely massive in Japan. Its anime adaptation from Studio Ufotable made it even bigger and better. Following the release of Mugen Train, Demon Slayer became bigger than ever before, and to this day, it holds the record for the most manga sales per volume in the history of manga itself, which goes to show that it is absolutely massive worldwide.
Mugen Train was huge, but Infinity Castle set a whole new standard and pushed Demon Slayer’s popularity to a whole new level. Demon Slayer’s popularity cannot be understated at this point in time. However, it would also be disingenuous to say that it cannot be rivaled by any series. If there is one new shounen series that can rival it, it is Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen has a very successful movie of its own, that being JJK0. While this movie is nowhere near being the highest-grossing movie at the box office, it must be remembered that it is truly a prequel movie featuring a completely different main character and a side cast that don’t take the role of the main characters in the actual manga. Despite that, this movie did incredibly well both in Japan and worldwide. A true Jujutsu Kaisen movie that would feature actual events from the anime would be absolutely massive.
Jujutsu Kaisen Movie Will Come For Demon Slayer’s Records Very Soon
If Jujutsu Kaisen does get a canon movie instead of a new season after the conclusion of Season 3, then it truly stands a chance to rival even Demon Slayer and break its records. It must be remembered that the greatest fight in modern shonen belongs to Jujutsu Kaisen and that this fight getting animated will shake the entire world.
Fans are very well aware that Gojo vs Sukuna is coming in JJK’s future. While it could simply be an anime season, and fans would absolutely love it if that were to be the case, it is also widely accepted in the community that Gojo vs Sukuna is an experience that belongs on the big screens.
Even when performing curse gestures, his hands remain unfettered, and even when chanting his curse, his heart and lungs remain unburdened. Sukuna’s extra arms and hands provide an immense advantage over other sorcerers. His physical form may be greatly deformed, but that doesn’t impede him in any way. — Narrator on Ryomen Sukuna
Demon Slayer: All Sun Breathing Techniques, Explained
Of all the breathing techniques in Demon Slayer, Sun Breathing is one of the most impressive. Here are all the moves it allows its users to pull off.
A theatrical release of this fight would shake the world and it would give the fans what could potentially be the greatest anime fight of the last decade or so. It goes without saying that Demon Slayer’s records remain impressive to this day, but they would be possible to beat for a Gojo vs Sukuna movie.
Given JJK’s popularity and the fact that this fight carries immense significance, not just for the series but for anime fights in general, this movie would certainly have the potential to come for all records set by any Demon Slayer movie ever.
Gojo Vs Sukuna Movie Is The Only True Competitor Of Demon Slayer
At this point, it is a given that Demon Slayer is almost unbeatable when it comes to anime movies, but it is also important to acknowledge the fact that other series have incredible potential as well. This is especially true for Jujutsu Kaisen, which will give the fans the greatest fight in one way or another soon enough.
To be clear, JJK does not need a massive movie to convince the fans that it features the best fight of all modern shonen anime. The hype that Gojo vs Sukuna carries cannot be matched by any other battle. But, if the studio wants to do true justice to this monumental battle, then the theatrical release would be absolutely perfect, and if that were to happen, then Demon Slayer’s record is well and truly in danger.
Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of the biggest shonen series in the world. The manga, which ended in late 2024, can be read online for free. It is available to access on Manga Plus, where this series used to be made available weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen currently has a sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine.
