Melee Weapons, Swimsuits, and Labrador Retrievers! Some Takeaways From the Most Recent AMA Session With The First Descendant Devs

The long-awaited The First Descendant AMA event has finally happened, so here are a couple of takeaways from this huge Q&A session.

We were supposed to have an AMA session near the end of 2024, but that was postponed due to unfortunate events. The AMA event is sort of a spiritual successor to the daily FAQ sessions on TFD’s official Discord. A new one was scheduled for January 20/21 and it finally happened, and the devs have answered dozens of questions, so here are a couple of takeaways, concerning close combat weapons, Fellows, and some peculiar Skins.

Takeaways From the Most Recent The First Descendant AMA Session

First, the ever-present question of melee weapons. We all know that this is a looter shooter, but a lot of players ask for some cool close combat attacks. We all want to look as cool as No. 17. On that topic, the devs said: “Releasing melee weapons as standalone weapons has been one of our long-term goals. We agree that melee attacks using support modules are currently not a viable alternative to grappling modules. Melee weapons are part of our plans, so please look forward to upcoming updates!”

Next, the devs said that new species of Fellows are in the works. “We are always considering adding new companions. As previously revealed, the next companion will be a Labrador Retriever. After that, we plan to gather more feedback from players regarding future companions.” said TFD_Director_Jooms. He continues by saying that a Cat (or a Capybara) is one of the ideas for the next Fellow.

Lastly, everyone is wondering when we will get some new Swimsuit skins. Waiting for the next summer is a bit too much, so thankfully, TFD_PD_Lee answered: ”Look forward to the hot spring-themed skins on February 13!”

A lot more has been said, and we will cover it in the following articles.
