While MindsEye had a pretty rocky release, the developers assure us it will get better.
The whole situation around the release of MindsEye is the talk of the town. The game was released on June 10 for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, but had some pretty negative reviews. For example, on Steam, the “score” is Mostly Negative, and social media is full of players thrashing on the game and asking for a refund. The developers, Build A Rocket Boy, posted an official statement, saying that they are committed to ensuring that their players have a great experience with MindsEye.
The Devs Claim MindsEye Will Get Better and Better
MindsEye is a recently released action-adventure thriller game with a pretty cool premise. The story is set in the near future and revolves around a man with a mysterious brain implant, called MindsEye, which resulted in some memory issues. And it all happens in a futuristic city inspired by Las Vegas, and it is a semi-open world. Kind of like a cross between GTA and Cyberpunk, and it was even directed by someone who did work on GTA games, Leslie Benzies. So, what happened?
To put it plainly, it is obvious the game is unfinished. While it features some awesome cutscenes, the game itself is just a slog and very repetitive. And let’s not even mention the various technical issues, like clipping, stuttering, glitches, you name it. About all that, the devs said that they are heartbroken about the whole situation. “Our priority is optimizing performance and stability so that every player, across every device, can enjoy an equally high-quality experience.” They revealed that the majority of the crashes were due to a memory leak, which has been fixed by now. “We are fully committed to ensuring all our players have a great experience, and we will continue to provide frequent and transparent updates”. They even provided a roadmap, with the next hotfix scheduled for this week, and another one for the end of June.

“Thank you for playing MindsEye. Thank you for your understanding and continued support – it truly means the world to us. We’re grateful and blessed to have you on the journey with us.”
The MindsEye Team
The fans, next to all the outrage, say that there is potential in this game, and the developers being this transparent is a major green flag. It is just that we have another Cyberpunk situation, absolutely horrible and unfinished at launch, but with potential to be awesome somewhere down the line. Well, Cyberpunk 2077 is now widely praised, so hope remains for MindsEye. But, in due time.
