My Hero Academia: 10 Top Heroes Who Look Like Villains
The following My Hero Academia characters may be heroes at heart, but their looks could easily fool you into thinking otherwise.
There are, however, some people in My Hero Academia who absolutely enjoy being a villain. They cause destruction and an untold amount of misery while having a smile on their face. These deranged people take genuine pleasure in what they do. So with that in mind, here are the MHA characters who love being villains.
1
Skeptic
A Skillful Villain
- Quirk: Anthropomorph
- Affiliation: Meta Liberation Army
- First Appearance: Episode 108
Skeptic is responsible for the Meta Liberation Army’s security network and intelligence gathering. Since he is not a fighter, he is rarely involved in front-line combat. His battlefield lies in the digital world beyond the screen. After all, he is one of the best hackers in the world.
Skeptic is incredibly proud of what he can do, which is understandable. After all, all the things that he can do come from pure skill, not from a quirk. That’s why he’s so eager to show off his skills every chance he gets. This includes hacking into government agency systems for fun, hijacking major broadcast signals to spread propaganda, and covertly tapping into military satellites to extract information. The man is a villain, and he enjoys every second of it.
2
Stain
The Ruthless Hero-Killer
- Quirk: Bloodcurdle
- Affiliation: Independent
- First Appearance: Episode 24
Out of every villain on this list—or even in the entire series, for that matter—Stain is the only one who exclusively targets heroes. He doesn’t mind hurting innocent passersby, but his main focus has always been heroes. Why? Because it’s his way of purging the hero industry of those he considers unworthy.
To Stain, All Might is the perfect Hero. Therefore, every hero has to strive to be like All Might. Those whom he deems incapable of doing so should be forcibly removed from the hero ranks, by any means necessary. Stain is more than aware that he is a villain. But in his mind, he is a necessary evil. Because thanks to his actions, society will be a better place. That’s why he’ll gladly hunt, punish, and kill as many false heroes as he can, for as long as he can.
3
Dabi
A Broken Villain
- Quirk: Blueflame
- Affiliation: League of Villains
- First Appearance: Episode 31
Dabi was born with a quirk that burns hotter than Endeavor’s flame, but with a body that can’t withstand heat. This means he will hurt himself every time he uses his quirk. Yet despite his condition, Dabi was still training hard every day so that one day he would receive praise from his abusive father. But then, that fateful accident happened. Dabi accidentally burned himself alive. What follows is years of grueling pain and psychological manipulation under All For One.

The evil overlord and his doctor manage to save Dabi, but his body is still on the verge of breaking down. The only thing that keeps him going is his thirst for revenge against his father. Dabi also experiences constant pain all the time. That’s why he doesn’t want to stand still. He always needs to do something so that his mind won’t focus on the pain. Soon enough, he figures out that inflicting pain on others is like therapy for him. He finds joy in making the world feel his pain. That’s why to Dabi, being a villain is the only way to live.
4
Kendo Rappa
A Battle Junkie Villain
- Quirk: Strongarm
- Affiliation: Shie Hassaikai
- First Appearance: Episode 70
Before he joined a Yakuza group known as Shie Hassaikai, Kendo Rappa used to be an underground fighter. He loves fighting. The stronger the opponent, the better. Those intense battles are the one thing that makes him feel alive. Incidentally, his quirk also supports that obsession of his.
That’s why when Kendo joined Shie Hassaikai, he was more than happy to become their executioner. Having the license to punch someone until they lose their life is like a dream come true for Kendo. He knows he is a bad guy, but so what? As long as he can fight strong opponents, then nothing else matters to him.
5
Kunieda
A Deranged Serial Killer
- Quirk: Unnamed Plant Growth Quirk
- Affiliation: Paranormal Liberation Front
- First Appearance: Episode 147
Kunieda is one of the high-level prisoners from Tartarus who was freed by All For One during the infamous prison break incident. A lot of dangerous criminals were held in Tartarus, but Kunieda is a special kind of evil because this man is a convicted serial killer.
Kunieda used his Plant Growth quirk to kill countless innocent civilians, then turned their bodies into fertilizer for his plants. Like most serial killers, he has an incomprehensible obsession with taking human life. No matter what happens to him or the world, Kunieda will always stick to his deranged way. He enjoys being a villain and a killer way too much.
6
Muscular
A Rampaging Villain
- Quirk: Muscle Augmentation
- Affiliation: League of Villains
- First Appearance: Episode 40
In a way, Muscular is like the combination of Kendo Rappa and Kunieda. Just like Kendo, he is obsessed with fighting to a murderous degree. He sought ever-stronger opponents to satisfy his urge for battle. And just like Kunieda, mere battle is not enough for him. He won’t stop until he can satisfy his thirst for blood by pulverizing his opponents.

His unquenchable thirst for blood and destruction drives him to rampage, killing and destroying everything in sight. That’s the moment he feels most alive. For someone like Muscular, being a villain is the only way to live.
7
All For One
The Ultimate Evil
- Quirk: Multiple Quirks
- Affiliation: Paranormal Liberation Front
- First Appearance: Episode 33
All For One (AFO) is the mastermind behind most of the terrible things that happen in the world of My Hero Academia. He is the evil overlord who once terrorized Japan and turned it into a lawless country. For him, killing and destruction come as naturally as breathing. That’s why it’s not an exaggeration to say that All For One is the personification of evil itself.
What’s even more disturbing is the fact that All For One was born evil. Nobody abused, manipulated, or pushed him into a life of crime. He was born with a combination of a dark heart and an immense power in a time when only a handful of people had quirks. He committed his first murder when he was a boy and kept adding to the body count.
To AFO, it is only natural for the strong to rule over the weak. In fact, he finds it insulting when the weak try to stand up to him. But does that mean he loves being a villain? Well, asking that is like asking if All Might loves being a hero. The answer is a thousand percent yes.
