Toshinori Yagi, better known as All Might, is the Symbol of Peach and Japan’s #1 Pro Hero in the world of My Hero Academia. When taking his impressive reputation and his prestigious titles into consideration, it’s only logical for the reader to expect to see him showcasing his immense power at multiple points throughout the story of this anime/manga series.
My Hero Academia: Deku’s Most OP Moments, Ranked
These moments showed us all just how great a hero Deku really is.
However, there’s one problem: since All Might transferred his Quirk, One for All, to Izuku Midoriya very early on in the story, most of his overpowered moments take place in either the first arc, in flashbacks, or in the prequel/spin-off, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. Nevertheless, there still are a few memorable scenes that showcase how incredibly strong the Symbol of Peace truly was, and the following eight are the most notorious examples in the entire My Hero Academia franchise.
Armored All Might
The Only Time He Fought His Arch-Enemy Without Any Powers
- Chapter 396 (Manga) Episode 159 (Anime)
It’s very important to point out that Toshinori Yagi didn’t become the #1 Pro Hero just because of his raw power, but also due to his immovable tenacity and willingness to protect others no matter what, aspects of his personality that never stopped growing, even after he lost his Quirk. That’s exactly why he decided to confront his arch-enemy, All for One, while wearing a robotic suit of armor during the Final War Arc.
Armored All Might not only allowed him to fight one-on-one against a rejuvenated Symbol of Evil for a surprising amount of time, but it also utilizes elements that are based on the various Quirks of the Class 1-A students. Yes, maybe other heroes could have worn this suit as well, but nobody else would have been able to use it to hold back against All for One for as long as All Might did.
Using Detroit Smash Against The Sludge Villain
One Of Many Instances In Which Deku Inspired Him (And Not The Other Way Around)
- Chapter 1 (Manga) Episode 2 (Anime)
This is the exact moment that defined the relationship between Deku and All Might. After the Sludge Villain captured Bakugo and nobody could approach him in case he would harm the young boy, Deku’s legs begin moving automatically in an effort to save his childhood friend. This shocking display of sheer bravery inspired All Might to finally step up and use his strength to defeat the villain once and for all.
All Might unleashed a devastating Detroit Smash that not only defeated the Sludge Villain and freed Bakugo from his clutches in mere seconds, but also generated a small tornado. This is one of many scenes that proved he truly was on another level, and almost nobody else (neither heroes nor villains) was ever going to reach him in terms of strength.
Defeating The Bombers At The Sky Egg
Vigilantes Features A Younger All Might During His Prime
- Chapter 55 (Vigilantes Manga)
All Might doesn’t really have a prominent role for most of the early arcs in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, as he mostly appears briefly in the background or whenever Koichi mentions him. However, he finally had a bigger part to play during the Sky Egg Arc, in which he single-handedly saved the day.
My Hero Academia Vigilantes: 11 Characters Who Will Shine in Season 2
As MHA Vigilantes Season 2 approaches, here are the major characters who will stand out and shine the most.
After hearing that the Tokyo Sky Egg was in trouble due to an unexpected attack by a bunch of Bombers, All Might didn’t hesitate to travel to the place of the incident and asses the situation. Not only did he rescue Koichi and Captain Celebrity from falling to their deaths, but he also destroyed a massive cluster of Bombers with a single Nebraska Smash. This is an especially remarkable moment, because many Pro Heroes were present during the Sky Egg Incident, but All Might was the only one who put a stop to Number 6’s devious plans while simultaneously minimizing any real collateral damage.
Defeating The Bombers At Naruhata Ward
All Might’s Final Display Of Power In The Spin-Off Series
- Chapter 122 (Vigilantes Manga)
This entry is actually quite similar to the previous one, with the main difference being that it takes place at the very end of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, instead of the middle. During the climactic Naruhata Lockdown Arc, Number 6 meticulously cooked up a plan that would destroy the titular ward while also preventing any Pro Heroes from reaching the location in time, including All Might himself. To no one’s surprise, however, this plan eventually failed.
Even though the #1 Pro Hero was incredibly busy that night, he was still able to make some time to go to Naruhata and help clean up the last few Bombers that were left after the final battle between Koichi and Number Six. In just a few seconds, he effortlessly used his amazing speed and strength to defeat a massive army of Bombers, which was especially impressive after the rest of the arc made these Next-Level Villains seem so powerful and threatening. It’s also worth pointing out that he did all of this right in front of Endeavor, which further proved how far apart they truly were in terms of power at that point in the story.
Defeating Wolfram Alongside Deku
The Only Time In Which All Might And Deku Fought A Powerful Supervillain Together
- My Hero Academia: Two Heroes
Because of how One For All works and how early on in the narrative he passed it down to Deku, there were no real opportunities for this master-student duo to fight a villain together in the original manga. However, this exact scenario took place in the very first movie in the franchise, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes (which, of course, is 100% canon).
The main antagonist of the film is a villain named Wolfram, who not only was sent by All For One to defeat All Might (which explains why he had a few additional Quirks) but also enhanced his electromagnetic powers with David Shield’s Quirk Amplification Device. Despite Wolfram’s incredible power level, both All Might and Deku joined forces and confronted him in an epic final battle. After efficiently dodging all of his attacks, this master-student duo unleashed a devastating Double Detroit Smash that destroyed the villain’s giant metal body and put an end to his plans once and for all.
Defeating The U.S.J. Nomu
He Was Able To Overpower A Villain That Was Designed To Counter Him
- Chapter 19 (Manga) Episode 12 (Anime)
All Might fought and defeated many Nomus during his extensive career as a Pro Hero, but his victory over the U.S.J. Nomu during the U.S.J. Arc was especially impressive because that Upper-Tier artificial villain was specifically designed to counter him. Not only was he incredibly durable and strong, but he also wielded multiple quirks that allowed him to tank All Might’s attacks, like Shock Absorption and Super Regeneration.
7 Most Unlikable My Hero Academia Characters Fans Can’t Stand
Some My Hero Academia fans really can’t stand these divisive characters.
It’s also important to remember that, at that point in the story, Toshinori Yagi had already transferred One for All to Deku, meaning that he was fighting with the very last embers of his Quirk and could run out of power at any moment. Despite these unfortunate circumstances, All Might was still capable of going all out and ended up landing over 300 punches on the beast, including a supercharged final punch that was able to send the Nomu flying into the air. At the end of the day, he had one important goal in mind: protecting his students from the League of Villains and nobody was going to stop him, no matter what.
Defeating All For One (The First Time)
The Legendary Moment That Cemented Him As The Symbol Of Peace
- Chapter 59 (Manga) Episode 33 (Anime)
Needless to say, All Might would never have been able to reach the position of #1 Pro Hero and earn the title of Symbol of Peace if it wasn’t for his legendary victory against All for One, the Symbol of Evil and the most powerful villain, not only in Japan, but in the entire world. After witnessing the death of his master with his own eyes, Toshinori traveled to the United States, where he spent years training and becoming stronger, until he returned to Japan to finally put an end to All For One’s reign of terror.
Unfortunately, this legendary encounter was relegated to brief flashback sequences in both the anime and the manga, so fans were never able to witness it in its full glory. However, based on what was revealed throughout the story, it’s clear that this fight was a decisive moment in the lives of both All Might and All For One. In Toshinori Yagi’s case, he completely destroyed his arch-enemy’s face, forced him to go into hiding for decades, and became the Symbol of Peace, but he was also left with critical injuries that gave him a time limit on how long he could use his powers going forward (which is why he eventually decided to chose a successor).
United States Of Smash
The Most Important (And Unforgettable) Moment In All Of My Hero Academia
- Chapter 94 (Manga) Episode 49 (Anime)
The long-running rivalry between All Might and All for One is nothing short of fascinating, but, after many trials and tribulations, it had to come to its natural conclusion during the Hideout Raid Arc. Both combatants were forced to go all out during their final battle, with All for One wielding multiple destructive Quirks at the same time, and All Might using the very last remaining embers of his power.
Just when it seemed like he had no hope of winning, All Might concentrated all of One for All’s power into his fist and unleashed his strongest Ultimate Move, aptly named United States of Smash. This devastating final attack defeated the Symbol of Evil once and for all, while also functioning as undeniable proof that Toshinori Yagi was always worthy of wielding the title of Symbol of Peace, not to mention that it’s often considered one of the best and most memorable moments in My Hero Academia as a result. Yes, United States of Smash left All Might quirkless, but that didn’t matter, because he knew that his chosen successor, Izuku Midoriya, was going to carry his legacy from that point onward.
