Necromancer’s Moon Quest Walkthrough in Oblivion Remastered

Once you head over to the Arcane University in the Imperial City, you can talk to Raminus Polus. He will discuss Falcar, who has joined a cult of necromancers and possesses Black Soul Gems. After this, he will tell you to visit the Mystic Archives and speak with Tar-Meena about the Black Soul Gems. Head over to Tar-Meena, and after talking to her, she will tell you to fetch a book, Necromancer’s Moon, from somewhere inside the building. Look to the west on your compass, and you can find the book lying on one of the small circular tables. Pick it up and take it to Raminus, who will mention the Shade of the Revenant, which is discussed in the book.

Talk to Bothiel, who might be inside the Orrery or the lobby. Upon hearing about the Shade and Falcar, she will give you a hastily scrawled note that contains the location of Dark Fissure. Talk to Raminus Polus again, and he will give you the go-ahead to visit the Dark Fissure cave to find out more about the ritual of creating Black Soul Gems.

Where To Find the Shade of Revenant in Oblivion Remastered

Once you head over to the marker and reach the Dark Fissure cave, you will come across an altar right outside the entrance, which is empty. This is the altar used to create Black Soul Gems, which you can also craft for yourself. For the quest to progress, you need evidence that the necromancers are creating Black Soul Gems, and there are a few ways to go about this. The first method is to go inside the cave and immediately look to your left to spot the Worm Anchorite dressed in Necromancer’s Robes. Talk to him, and he will become hostile, forcing you to deal with him. Loot his body for the Handwritten Note, which should be enough evidence for you to leave.

The alternate method involves taking things into your own hands and performing the ritual yourself. You can wait for the Shade of the Revenant to appear in the sky—it’s a red light that appears once a week, mainly on the 1st, 9th, 17th, and 25th days of the game.

Simply observing the Shade should be enough, but you can also place a Grand Soul Gem inside the altar and cast the Soul Trap spell as the Shade appears to create Black Soul Gems.

With the evidence in your possession, head back to Raminus Polus, which should complete the mission and allow you to advance in rank.
