Neo Tennis Tier List – Best Styles [UPD 3/13]

Your Neo Tennis style choice has a lot to do with whether you’re looking to play on a high competitive level or a casual level. For casual play even the B-Tiers below work well but this tier list will focus on high-level 1v1s and 2v2s. Here’s my Neo Tennis styles tier list and guide.

Neo Tennis Style Tier List

S-Tier = Meta | A-Tier = Great | B-Tier = Situational | C-Tier = Weak

The best styles in Neo Tennis depend on if you’re playing competitive or casual matches and also whether you’re doing 1v1s or 2v2s. Generally the most balanced and flexibile styles are the ones in S-Tier which are good for any mode. The A-Tier are great alternatives but are more specific. As for the B-Tiers, these are great styles for casual play but are weaker and more situational for pro play. Lastly, the C-Tier is for overall weak styles. Let’s dive into each style, its stats and how to counter its Awakening.

How to Use Awakening: It’s usable only when you are losing at 0-30 or 15-40 and it’s usable only once per rally. Once you meet the conditions you’ll get a Q prompt to press. This starts the awakening animation and then you can use your Awakening Ultimate move by pressing Q again for some styles.

How to Curve Shot: For serving use medium power and adjust the curve with A or D (Or the directional inputs on mobile/console). During the game, you need to dash and swing when the ball is to your left or right.

S-Tier Styles

S-Tier Styles Style Breakdown

ADS Robot
Secret
Ranking Notes:
• Arguably the best style in the game
• The most balanced stats that are good for any game mode
• Especially strong in 1v1s since the awakening robot makes it really hard to play for your opponent

How to Counter Awakening:
• You need to survive the 5-7 robot shots as best you can
• I recommend staying in the middle and reacting to shots
• The slower it is the better your chance of countering it
• Look for smashes to the sides when you can and repeat until the robot is out

Stats:

Meteor Rain
Secret
Ranking Notes:
• Very strong awakening with the meteor shots that can be awkward to dodge
• If you hit your opponent with the meteors in 1v1s it’s over so I prefer it for duels
• That said the AOE of the meteors makes it great for 2v2 as well
• Overall very strong offensive power that’s better overall than even Heavy Hitter

How to Counter Awakening:
• Stay out of the red circles
• Stay out of the orange boxes if you can

Stats:

Temporal Master
Secret
Ranking Notes:
• Amazing shot control for curving balls
• I recommend trying to curve shot serve under 60% to get used to curving
• Really strong for high-level 1v1 and 2v2 due to mind games between curves and smashes
• Also great speed for defending

A-Tier Styles

A-Tier Styles Ranking Explained

Heavy Hitter
Legendary
Ranking Notes:
• The best beginner style due to the highest smash power
• Holds up in higher level play too when combined with Temporal
• The awakening makes your shots even heavier from all shooting positions

How to Counter Awakening:
• Stay in the middle and quickly try to save the balls since they’ll be perfect hits every time

Stats:

Echo of Cosmos
Secret
Ranking Notes:
• Stat-wise it’s pretty great due to the balance of strengths and weaknesses
• The reason I put it lower than the others is that the awakening is easy to counter
• Otherwise it’s a decent Style for all modes, especially in casual

How to Counter Awakening:
• Just stay in the middle behind the 2 boxes

Stats:

Shadow Step
Mythical
Ranking Notes:
• Very strong defensive style that’s an alternative to Temporal due to the speed
• Weaker than the S-Tiers in pro play but excellent for casual play
• Can throw off opponents with the fake balls in both 1v1 and 2v2 with awakening

How to Counter Awakening:
• Play around with dashes and head-movement when not in shiftlock
• This will allow you to practice since your character will stay locked on the ball
• This allows you to tell which is the real one

Stats:

Flash
Rare
Ranking Notes:
• Extremely underrated due to being Rare but it’s actually pretty good for defense
• One of the best defensive styles if you don’t have Temporal or Shadow

How to Counter Awakening:
• Stay in the 2 boxes in the front and play aggressively
• Flash awakening players tend to stay back so this allows you to overpower them

B-Tier Styles

Magician’s Trick
Mythical
Ranking Notes:
• The stats are weak for high-level pro play
• But the invisible ball awakening is pretty strong so it’s situationally powerful

How to Counter Awakening:
• Dash up to and hit the ball as it goes invisible
• Alternatively try to time your hit before it goes invisible

Stats:

XMas Surprise!
Mythical
Ranking Notes:
• Great for casual play but the low Power and Speed make it bad for high level play
• It can be better than Magician’s Trick ocasionally due to better offensive power

How to Counter Awakening:
• Stay outside of the boxes and stay on the blue area in the back

Stats:

C-Tier Styles

C-Tier Styles Ranking Explained

Angel
Common
Ranking Notes:
• The higher jumps can help you land some jump smashes
• That said they can also make you miss the ball sometimes
• Overall not the best style to use and easy to counter

How to Counter Awakening:
• The opponent just gets higher jumps which isn’t anything powerful
• Watch out if you launch a slow high ball
• Otherwise it’s not even a competitive awakening

Neo Tennis FAQ

What is the best 1v1 style in Neo Tennis?

The top 1v1 styles are ADS Robot, Meteor and Temporal.

What are the best 2v2 styles in Neo Tennis?

The best style combinations for a 2v2 match are Heavy+Temporal, Meteor+Temporal or Heavy+Flash for beginners as a budget option.

How to activate Awakening in Neo Tennis?

Press Q when you are behind at 0-30 or 15-40 to activate your Awakening and then press Q again to do your Awakening Ultimate move.

How to perform a curve shot in Neo Tennis?

For serving use medium power and adjust the curve with A or D (Or the directional inputs on mobile/console). During the game, you need to dash and swing when the ball is to your left or right.

Should you use “auto-serve” in the options menu?

I don’t recommend using auto-serve since it doesn’t allow you to jump when serving which is quite good to set up strong serves. Instead, just practice the QTE to determine power and then practice jump serving or serving on the ground.
