The First Descendant devs give us a preview of how the upcoming Party Finder system will work. It looks solid, and the players share their initial opinions on it.
Going into public servers and looking for folks to join with has always been a touchy subject for TFD players. Sure, some get lucky and get teamed up with awesome players, but more often than not, you hear horror stories of players ruining other people’s games for this reason or that. Like speedrunning when others want to take it slow, or AFKing so others will defeat the boss and they can reap the rewards, or simply leaving the game mid-fight, because something is not up to their expectations.
Issues like these have been plaguing the game since the early days, and to combat them, Nexon announced that a Party Finder is in the works. Now, its release is getting sooner, and the devs shared what the Party Finder will look like.
The First Descendant Party Finder Preview
The Party Finder will be added to The First Descendant on May 22, and the devs have shared a small preview, so we can see what it will look like. And, the initial images look pretty great!

As you can see, players can set up their “tags” so that others will know who the right pick for them is. You can set tags from the following categories:
- Descendant and Fellow Research – for when you are looking for specific Descendant and Fellow Research parts.
- Weapon Research – for when you are looking for specific Ultimate Weapon Research parts.
- Other Research – for when you are looking for parts to research items like Crystalization Catlists, Ion Accelerators, and the like.
- Battle – to show where you would like to play, in what area.
- Play – to show what type of missions you are looking for, like 400% Operations or Abyss battles.
Furthermore, you can set up Mastery Level requirements, choose which region/language you are looking for people from, and even set an internet speed/ping requirement.

The Players Give Their Two Cents
These options look pretty useful, and the players are looking forward to them. “This is fabolous lots of options, specific details and very broad features to choose from.” said kairo88, and “This is good feature being added and hopefully means more Co-op required content in the future.” added evlevlmonkee.
Some do point out that tags like “speedrun” or “slowplay” would do wonders and solve the problems we mentioned at the beginning of this article. Some claim that it was far from necessary, but still a useful tool, since other looter-shooters rely on third-party sources for party creation.
Either way, the Party Finder will definitely be used, especially for Void Erosion missions or Abyss bosses. And we are certain that these updates are just paving the way for Season 3, where they will be even more useful (and the devs will most likely add new options, like “world boss”, and more).
