Nexon Posts a Preview of the 1.2.6 Update, But The First Descendant Fans Are Wary of the Void Erosion Leaderboard

The next update is almost here as Nexon posts a preview of the upcoming 1.2.6 update, but the fans are not looking forward to the Void Erosion Leaderboard feature, wary that it will have a negative impact on The First Descendant.

The last major update we had was on January 16, which added Ines, Void Erosion Missions, and much more. It was followed by the 1.2.5 update which served to fix some problems made by the 1.2.4, as well as other minor improvements. The upcoming one, 1.2.6, promises to improve both Void Erosion missions and Weapon Core mechanics, and Nexon posted a preview of what to expect. Unfortunately, there is one feature that the players are not too keen on.

Players Wary of the Void Erosion Leaderboard

As you can see, Nexon plans to add a leaderboard for Void Erosion missions. It will show the names and scores of those who are the best at this game mode. Nexon’s idea is most likely to encourage players to be their best in Void Erosions, in hopes of getting the highest score possible. A little bit of competitive spirit can be beneficial. However, this is the gaming scene we are talking about.

Unfortunately, gamers are not known as the most sensible group when it comes to competitive gaming. You’re more likely to hear about toxic behavior, cheaters, and anything along those lines wholesome and positive stories. And TFD fans think the same, and that’s why they are mostly against the addition of a leaderboard to their favorite game, claiming it will do more harm than good. “We all know leaderboard is gonna be plagued with cheaters,” said IamSylarr, and “Leaderboards sounds good on paper, but we know it’s gonna be the same three characters on every top,” added luisramirez193. One player suggested that a post-mission report would be a much better idea.

The update is in just a couple of days, and we will know what kind of an impact those Leaderboards will actually make. Maybe they won’t have such a negative effect and just add a bit of healthy competition to the game. One can hope. It is a PvE game after all.
