If you are wondering about the maximum capacity of Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges, CD Projekt Red’s community manager has revealed that it will be 64GB.
The confirmation came through a video by YouTuber BeatEmUps (via ResetEra), where CD Projekt Red’s community manager Marcin Łukaszewski said, “We specifically went for the highest capacity, which was 64 gigs,” while showcasing Cyberpunk 2077. This statement seems to confirm that 64GB will be the maximum size for all Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges.
Recent game size reveals for the Nintendo Switch 2 further support this:
- Mario Kart World: 23.4 GB
- Donkey Kong Bananza: 10 GB
- Nintendo Classics: GameCube app: 3.5 GB
- Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV: 7.7 GB
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World: 5.7 GB
With most titles under 30GB, the Nintendo Switch 2’s internal storage of 256GB will serve players well for a while. This is a significant upgrade over the 32GB on the original Switch and Switch Lite, and the 64GB available on the Switch OLED Model.
The Switch 2 will also support microSD Express cards for up to 2TB of additional storage. However, players will need to purchase new cards, as the console will not be compatible with the microSDXC cards used in the current Switch models.
