Nintendo Switch 2 Still Doesn’t Have These Iconic Games (And It Hurts)

Nintendo Switch 2 Still Doesn’t Have These Iconic Games (And It Hurts)

Unsurprisingly, Nintendo is doing very well since the Switch 2 launched in June. Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Kirby Air Riders are just a few of the best exclusive games. Plus, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will help round out the year for Nintendo.

10 Underrated Nintendo Switch JRPGs Deserving A Huge Comeback In 2025

These underrated Japanese role-playing games deserve a comeback on Nintendo Switch in 2025.

What can Switch 2 fans look forward to in 2026? Hopefully, third-party developers will start to port new and old games onto the Switch 2 that couldn’t run on the original Switch. Also, Nintendo should add more to its GameCube library, because it is a bit small. From obvious picks to wishful thinking, these games would work well theoretically on the Switch 2.

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess

In Lieu Of The HD Ports

Nintendo made a great HD version for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii U that is unfortunately still stuck on the console, along with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Instead of porting the HD version of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker to the Switch 2, Nintendo added the original GameCube version at launch for the Switch 2.

Nintendo could easily add the GameCube version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess as well. It is a great darker title in the franchise that still holds up thanks to the vision of the world and the wolf-based gameplay.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

Samus Continues Her FPS Journey

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is another GameCube title that Nintendo could add to the Switch 2’s virtual library. It features more of the same from the previous title, with solid shooting and an explorative map that unwinds as players get new abilities.

It would also be good to get Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on Switch 2, so that the whole quadrilogy can be played on the console once Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches. Unfortunately, there is no Wii section of the virtual library on Switch 2 yet.

Grand Theft Auto 5

While You Wait For Vice City

The Switch understandably was not powerful enough to run Grand Theft Auto 5 at max potential, which is funny considering The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was made playable on the original Switch. GTA 6 probably won’t run on the Switch 2, but at least Nintendo fans would be happy to finally get GTA 5.

6 Best Games You Can ONLY Play On Nintendo Switch 2

So far, these Switch 2 games are entirely exclusive to the platform that even Switch fans can’t play.

Nintendo could work with Rockstar to add bonuses too, like classic costumes or maybe even extra quests. Waluigi and Wario, as characters, would fit right in with the Los Santos crowd, for example, but Rockstar would need to do some cosmetic work first.

Baldur’s Gate 3

A Game For The Storytellers

Baldur’s Gate 3 looks great in cutscenes when characters are talking, but most of the game is seen from a top-down perspective, which doesn’t show off the graphics much. Even though it’s a beast of a game with hundreds of hours of replay value, it seems possible to get it running on Switch 2 hardware.

Tactical and turn-based RPGs work well as portable experiences since there can often be grinding for EXP. With Baldur’s Gate 3 on a hybrid device like the Switch 2, fans would never have to leave it behind.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

A Reactive Turn-Based RPG

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is another modern turn-based RPG that would work well on the Switch 2. It favors artistic designs over cutting-edge graphics, making it possible to port onto the system since it doesn’t seem to be pushing hardware too much.

Nintendo fans would dig it because the battle system is reactive, similar to many of Mario’s RPG adventures. With a classic world map and lots of content to devour, Nintendo RPG fans would be enthralled.

Dead Space (2023)

In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream

The 2023 remake of Dead Space is one of the scariest action-forward survival horror games of all time. Even though players have plenty of weapons to blast the alien entities known as Necromorphs away, they are still unnerving creatures.

Luigi in Luigi’s Mansion 2

Potentially Cool Uses For Nintendo Switch 2’s Virtual Boy

This upcoming Switch 2 accessory can be more useful if Nintendo wants it to be.

The spaceship players are trapped on is filled with horrors from darkly lit corners to vents that allow Necromorphs to pop in everywhere, to moments when players literally have to jump into the cold vacuum of space. The trilogy in a remastered collection would be better to get on the Switch 2, but horror fans would assuredly be happy with one game via the Dead Space remake.

Psychonauts 2

Platforming Dreams

Nintendo fans have no shortage of excellent 2D and 3D platformers between the Switch and Switch 2. That said, one more wouldn’t break the bank and hurt Mario as a franchise for Nintendo in any way. Psychonauts 2 is an inventive platformer starring a budding new agent who can connect with people telepathically and even jump into brains.

The usage of ideas that stem from brainwaves and dreams is more imaginative than the original game. Microsoft already allowed Double Fine to release the game to PlayStation consoles, so why not Nintendo?

Roblox

Released

September 1, 2006

Roblox is targeted toward kids, so it’s odd that the game was never made available on the Switch. It’s technically free to play, although players can get game cards IRL to spend on things like fashion items. Roblox is also more of a hub world than an actual game, and fan have been crafting their own experiences for years.

From platformers to action games to mini-game collections, there’s something for everyone as long as they are willing to do a little digging. It’s the perfect game for Nintendo to support via costumes.
