Game development is quite tricky, so it isn’t all that surprising that the devs will need some more time before they drop a bigger update. Earlier this week, the CEO of Arrowhead, Shams Jorjani, addressed the performance issues. Later on, another member of the dev team, Joseph Gardner, the Lead QA, shared some insight about what the team worked on. Well, some devs, including the Lead QA, have been hinting that lots of fixes will be coming in the next Helldivers 2 patch. However, no one mentioned any kind of new content.
So, the Next Patch Is Just Fixes?
As we mentioned, the devs have been quite open about all the bug fixes they have been working on. With the torsodivers still running around, and invisible fire insta-killing players, we can see why. Well, they shared some more info about the next patch.
The aforementioned QA Lead, aka Jojo, teased that the next patch will solve some issues. This dev noted: “I can’t say when, but the next patch will have lots of bugfixes”.
Since this dev has shared quite a lot of info this week, the players wanted to know more details about the patch. Jojo stated: “The next patch will have performance improvements. Post that in general next time smh I don’t wanna dig”.
So, if you were wondering, yes, the next Helldivers 2 patch will feature some performance improvements and general fixes. Now, as for when the patch will drop, Jojo obviously didn’t want to drop hints, but Baskinator, the Community Manager, might have.
It’s been more than a couple of weeks since the last patch dropped (April 1), so the players are getting antsy, to put it mildly. However, they’ll have to wait some more, since the devs will be on a (very) short break from April 18 to April 21.
When asked if the patch was coming on April 29, the CM replied: “No… we’re also off on Monday. It’s a super long weekend! I’m going to go outside maybe”. Obviously, there has been a miscommunication here, as next Tuesday is April 22, but let’s say the CM didn’t pay attention to the date.
Helldivers 2 Players Are Divided Over What They Expect From the Next Patch
Obviously, the Helldivers 2 community is huge. So, it isn’t surprising that different players have various preferences when it comes to this game. Some players want new content but don’t really care about performance improvements. Others prioritize fixes over everything else. And that’s completely fine.
The only thing that is important is that the players truly have patience when it comes to letting the devs cook. They’ve proved over and over again that they’d stand by devs and support them while they work. One player, Shady_ghoul, noted: “I wanna make this incredibly clear. It’s mean to be shi**y to AH over a lack of updates, but it’s also mean to be shi**y to players just voicing their opinions”. Thus, mutual respect is exactly what the doctor prescribed.
