Who would have guessed that the current Major Order, to defend the Creek, would have given the players an epic battle that wasn’t on Malevelon Creek? Probably no one, as the players expected to fight on the Creek once more. However, J.O.E.L had other plans! The majority of Helldivers 2 players are still fighting on the Popli IX, even though this battle should have ended long ago.
What’s Happening On Popli IX?
At the time of writing this article, it’s been almost 36 hours since the bots attacked Popli IX, while trying to get to Malevelon Creek. Since the very start of this defense, it’s been obvious that it would be a tough one. However, hardly anyone could have expected this many things would be happening all at once.

Let’s go over everything. First of all, fighting on Popli IX means facing fire tornadoes and intense heat. As if that wasn’t enough, the Incineration Corps is there to raise the temperature even more. And, so is the resurrected Jet Brigade!
Thankfully, Helldivers have managed to use the Democracy Space Station to their advantage this time. The Eagle Storm is active, slowing down the bots’ progress. It expires in around 12 hours, and Helldivers are predicted to fend off the bots in approximately 9 hours.

However, that isn’t all, J.O.E.L threw another curveball. An alert of a Battlefield Impact was issued. The alert noted: “Cascading logistical disruptions have resulted in the temporary emplacement of ammunition rationing measures. Resupply pod ammunition will be decreased to 50% for all operations on PÖPLI IX until further notice”.

Helldivers Are Loving the Popli IX Chaos
Whatever happens on Popli IX, this is one of those battles that Helldivers 2 players will talk about for years to come. It might not be Malevelon Creek, Meridia, or Calypso, but everything happening on this planet will certainly cause some PTSD in the future.
Even as this battle unfolds, players all over social media rave about its importance. TheColeBrew noted: “The Battle for Popli IX has hit historic levels of insanity”. Thousands of people agreed with this statement.
Still, some players pointed out that Helldivers would lose something whether they win or lose this defense. One player explained: “Bittersweet. If we win here, there’s not a single chance we see the Creek. That’s probably for the best, time to send the tin cans back to Cyberstan”.
So, dear Helldiver, you know what needs to be done! There’s no stopping until we complete this defense, and even then, the Major Order awaits! We’ll meet you on Popli IX. For Liberty and Super Earth.
