The King of Beasts, Kaido was the main antagonist of the Wano Country arc of One Piece, and he stood tall as one of the most powerful individuals in the story at the time, with a bounty of over 4.6 billion berries. Deemed to be the strongest pirate at the time, Kaido was a force to be reckoned with, and he was certainly a calamity strong enough to push Luffy to the limits. While Kaido was incredibly powerful, the final saga of the series is a whole new ball game, where even stronger villains operate. In fact, Oda has already revealed a ton of monstrously powerful villains who surpass Kaido in terms of overall strength, and some of them are even stronger than Luffy.
One Piece: 39 Strongest Characters In The Series
These are the strongest characters to sail the seas of the One Piece world.

Akainu
Akainu is the current Fleet Admiral of the Marines and one of the primary antagonists of the series. In the Paramount War, he stood tall as one of the biggest obstacles that Luffy faced and was primarily responsible for the death of Portgas D. Ace. Luffy and Akainu have a massive rivalry, and at some point, they will come face to face again in the Final Saga. Recently, Akainu’s bounty was revealed to be equivalent to 5 billion berries, and that just goes to show the level of threat he carries.
Akainu being saved for the Final Saga automatically makes him stronger than Kaido, given that he is one of the main antagonists in the story. He has the power of the Magu Magu no Mi, which is one of the most destructive fruits in the entire series and can annihilate the vast majority of individuals. On top of that, he is also a very powerful user of Haki, and over the years, his strength is likely to have only grown. When Luffy and Akainu eventually end up clashing, he will likely be more than a match for Gear 5, and it will be quite interesting to see how he compares to Kaido. Everything points to him being stronger overall for a smoother progression of the story.

Five Elders
- Affiliation: World Government
The Five Elders are monstrously powerful individuals who are also known to be the Warrior Gods of the world. They are the direct subordinates of none other than Saint Imu Nerona and, as such, hold the Abyssal Covenant with them. This gives them the power of immortality and regeneration, as well as stops them from aging completely. The Five Elders also hold unique abilities, such as Yokai powers, which grant them tremendous strength. On top of that, they all seem to be users of powerful Conqueror’s Haki. All these things combined make the Five Elders rivals to the likes of the Emperors, and most of them are likely even stronger than the likes of Kaido.
The fact that Luffy couldn’t help but run against the Elders but was able to defeat Kaido is proof that they’re stronger. Even with the usage of Conqueror’s Haki, Luffy could not deal sustained damage to them and had to resort to running. What’s more, the same Red Roc that put Kaido on his back and made him bleed only led to Luffy’s own fist getting injured when he was up against Warcury. The Five Elders have not even shown their full capabilities, and they are already superior to Kaido.

Gunko (Possessed)
- Affiliation: World Government
Gunko serves as one of the main antagonists in the Elbaf arc of One Piece. She is a member of the Holy Knights, meaning that she must have the Deep-Sea Covenant with Imu. But, given the fact that Imu places special value on her, she could even have the Abyssal Covenant, making her an equivalent to an Elder, just like any member of the Holy Knights. Gunko can serve as a vessel for Imu, and when possessed, she can channel tremendous strength. Gunko’s powers are such that she can essentially destroy an entire country in the blink of an eye, and that makes her truly special.
She can utilize the power of the Aro Aro no Mi, but more than that, she can use the Grimoire of Imu to make use of various spell-based abilities that can obliterate just about anyone.
Even strong individuals, such as Luffy, don’t stand a chance against her in combat on their own at the moment, and that goes to show that she is far stronger than Kaido. With Imu’s powers, Gunko might even be able to Domi Reversi Kaido, which is a dark possibility, especially after witnessing what happened to Rocks 38 years ago in God Valley. Undoubtedly, Gunko, under Imu’s possession, is far stronger than Kaido.

Shamrock Figarland
- Affiliation: World Government
Shamrock Figarland is a new character that Oda only introduced recently in the final saga of One Piece. He is the twin brother of Shanks, but the two brothers are separated by fate. While Shanks was taken in by the Roger Pirates, Shamrock was raised by the Celestial Dragons and is evil through and through. Shamrock is also said to be equally as skilled as Shanks, and on top of that, he has a Deep Sea Covenant with Imu. In other words, Shamrock has the talent that Shanks has, but immortality and regeneration on top of it. His strength is immense, and in the Elbaf arc, he was portrayed to be even stronger than Loki. This alone makes Shamrock stronger than Kaido.
If he is anywhere near close to Shanks in terms of power, then Shamrock would destroy Kaido in a battle. His true value has not yet been revealed by Oda, but he has been teased to be among the strongest characters in the entire series. Oda even highlighted Shamrock as one of the key players in the Final Saga in the hunt for the One Piece, and it will be interesting to see what role he plays in the main story from here onwards.
2
Blackbeard
- Affiliation: Four Emperors
Blackbeard is one of the main antagonists of the overarching plot of One Piece and a descendant of Davy Jones. He wields two powerful Devil Fruits, those being Yami Yami no Mi and Gura Gura no Mi, both of which are said to be the strongest in the Logia and the Paramecia class, respectively. Blackbeard also has very powerful Haki, and it goes without saying that he is stronger than Kaido.
His Devil Fruit can nullify any other Devil Fruit, and his offensive capabilities are such that he can destroy the world. There is absolutely no competition to be had between these monsters, and his true worth will be revealed as the story continues.
1
Imu
- Affiliation: World Government
The Sovereign of the World, Imu is far stronger than the vast majority of the villains that Oda has revealed in the Final Saga. Imu has been active for hundreds of years and has ruled the world as the sole sovereign. Their powers are beyond any human comprehension at the moment, and it goes without saying that Imu is stronger than Kaido.
In fact, for Imu, defeating Kaido should not be a big deal at all. The gulf in strength between these two characters is absolutely massive, and even throwing everything that Kaido has at Imu would not be enough to take them down. For Imu, taking down Kaido would be light work, just as it was with Rocks D. Xebec, 38 years ago, in God Valley.
