One Piece: 9 Strongest Characters From Joy Boy’s Era, Ranked

Joy Boy’s era, which started around 900 years ago in the world of One Piece, remains a mysterious time period to this day. Despite that, since the One Piece timeskip, Oda has slowly been uncovering more information concerning this time period. In the Final Saga, quite a lot of information pertaining to Joy Boy’s era has been revealed, and some monstrously powerful characters were revealed to have existed during this age. While most prominent characters were impressive in their own ways, some certainly stood out as far stronger than others.

One Piece: 6 Devil Fruit Users From The Void Century

The Void Century was a mysterious time period, with some of the most powerful Devil Fruits ever.

Amatsuki Toki

Toki Strongest Characters Joy Boy Era one piece

Out of all the characters that fans know of from the Void Century, and subsequently, from Joy Boy’s era, Toki is definitely the weakest out of the bunch. Toki was able to travel from the Void Century to the current era, thanks to her Devil Fruit, the Toki Toki no Mi.

This Devil Fruit does not offer any offensive abilities, and Oda showed in the Wano flashback that she is not a fighter. While Toki is weak, she is still incredibly important to the One Piece narrative. It is because of her actions that the Wano Country was even liberated in the first place.

Ragnir

ragnir Strongest Characters Joy Boy Era one piece

Ragnir is a newly revealed character in One Piece’s Elbaf Arc. At the moment, Ragnir is a squirrel hammer wielded by Loki with ice powers. However, that wasn’t always the case. Ragnir is technically one of the oldest characters in the whole story. Initially, the ice squirrel existed in Elbaf as a companion of the God of War of the country. In the battle against Nika, it was also seen taking part. After the death of the God of War, its soul resided in the iron hammer, and that is how the current Ragnir came to be.

With that in mind, Ragnir definitely lived through the Joy Boy’s era, one way or another. Ragnir was shown to be quite powerful as he guarded Elbaf’s legendary Devil Fruit for centuries.

Five Elders

The Five Elders are a terrifying force from the World Government that serves Imu. The Five Elders are known to be characters that most readers of the story have been familiar with for quite some time, but their true power was only revealed in Egghead. In this arc, Saturn paved the way for all their appearances, and they showed their yokai powers completely.

While it is not exactly known how old the Five Elders are due to them possessing immortality through Imu’s powers, they are over 200 years old, at the very least, and given that no war has been fought in the world recently, they are implied to have come into power around the Void Century. It is more than likely that they have been alive since the Joy Boy’s era in the Void Century. The Elders are some of the strongest characters around, and they will be a major antagonistic force to face in the final saga.

Emeth

With the final saga of One Piece, Oda finally introduced one of the crewmates of the legendary pirate, Joy Boy. This crewmate was none other than Emeth, the Iron Giant. Emeth was dormant on Egghead for centuries. However, Luffy’s drums of liberation finally awakened him.

Emeth was shown to be a major ally to the Straw Pirates during the Egghead arc. Without Emeth, the crew would never have been able to escape the island. Emeth himself is strong as he stood up to Warcury, even breaking one of his tusks. He was able to do terrific damage through the Haki knot that Joy Boy had bestowed upon him before his death.

Zunesha

Zunesha is one of the oldest known characters in the world of One Piece, and is a gigantic walking elephant that is cursed to continue traversing the seas for eternity. On his back, Zunesha carries the island Zou, and he has shown to be quite strong, easily defeating one of Kaido’s All Stars.

It is unknown exactly what Zunesha is and what the connection to Joy Boy was. However, Zunesha carries a lot of regret and guilt when it comes to Joy Boy. Zunesha himself knew Joy Boy and has been alive since the Void Century era, and it was he who heralded the reappearance of Joy Boy in the Wano arc.

Davy D. Jones

Davy Jones is a name that was first uttered during the Long Ring Long Land arc of One Piece. However, to the shock of many, this name came back again in the Elbaf flashback through Rocks D. Xebec. Oda then revealed that his real name is Davy D. Jones and that he was a character from Joy Boy’s era in the Void Century.

Davy D. Jones was a dangerous character and it was revealed that he was one of Imu’s biggest nightmares. As such, Davy D. Jones is definitely a powerful character, one on the same level as the likes of Imu and Joy Boy. It’s unknown if Davy D. Jones has died or not, as there are legends of him still roaming the bottom of the sea. This character will be even more relevant moving forward through the character of Blackbeard.

The Holy Knights are immortal, and One Piece chapter 1178 just shed light on their immortality.

Poseidon

There are three Ancient Weapons in One Piece, and only one of them has been seen in the story so far, that being Poseidon, who is the mermaid princess of Fishman Island. At this point in the One Piece story, the Mermaid Princess is Shirahoshi. However, before her, there was another mermaid princess living in the same era as Joy Boy. That princess’s name is unknown, but she was also Poseidon.

Poseidon is an Ancient Weapon that possesses terrifying power. Any wielder of its power can destroy the world, as they can go on to control all the Sea Kings who can sink any Island and raise the Sea levels. Poseidon can easily create the strongest sea army in the whole of One Piece.

Imu

Imu is the secret sovereign of the One Piece world, ruling from behind the shadows and occupying the Empty Throne. Imu has been built up since the Reverie Arc to act as the final antagonist of the One Piece story. They are expected to be one of the strongest characters around.

Not only is Imu one of the strongest characters in the current era but also one of the strongest characters in Joy Boy’s era, the Void Century. Imu possesses a mysterious Devil Fruit power that grants them magic powers and the ability to turn enemies into slaves using Contracts. Not only that, but Imu was also able to take down Joy Boy and erase the history of the world with him.

Joy Boy

Joy Boy is a legendary figure in the One Piece world. His name was first mentioned in a Poneglyph from Fishman Island, and now, in the final saga, more information has been revealed concerning his character. It was revealed in Egghead that Joy Boy was actually the very first pirate in the entirety of the One Piece history. As such, he was definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Joy Boy also possessed the same abilities as One Piece’s protagonist, Luffy. He was the previous user of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and had access to Gear 5. Joy Boy also had the best Haki ever showcased in the One Piece story, being able to knock back the Five Elders and strike fear in Imu’s heart. He is the strongest character from his own era, and probably the strongest character overall in One Piece.

One Piece is available to read on Manga Plus.
