One Piece: Every Devil Fruit Featured In The God Valley Incident

One Piece: Every Devil Fruit Featured In The God Valley Incident

Despite the World Government’s best efforts to hide the truth, the God Valley Incident is the biggest and most important historical event in the world of One Piece. In it, powerful combatants from across the globe that belonged to different factions (including both pirates and marines) clashed against each other, and it concluded with a world-changing encounter between Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp, and a possessed Rocks D. Xebec.

8 Legendary Devil Fruits In The Final Saga Of One Piece, Ranked

One Piece has some legendary Devil Fruits that might come into play in the Final Saga of One Piece.

After years of speculation surrounding this event, the One Piece manga recently featured an extensive manga that detailed how everything transpired, including every single Devil Fruit power that the various characters used throughout the conflict. From classic abilities readers hadn’t seen in a long while, to ones that would later be inherited by other characters in the future, these are all the Devil Fruits that were involved in the God Valley Incident.

Uo Uo No Mi, Model: Seiryu

Eaten By Kaido

  • Type: Zoan (Mythical)
  • Debut: Chapter 921 (Manga) Episode 912 (Anime)

This is actually one of two Devil Fruits that were physically present at the God Valley Incident and were actually eaten on-screen during this historical event. The Uo Uo No Mi, Model: Seiryu was one of many prizes Celestial Dragons could win during the Native Hunting Competition, but when chaos unleashed on the island, both Kuma and Ivankov were able to find and seize this Mythical Zoan.

Unfortunately, Big Mom suddenly attacked them and took the Uo Uo no Mi from a young Ivankov’s hands. The pirate planned to give the Devil Fruit to her son, Charlotte Katakuri, until her crewmate, Kaido, appeared and ate it in front of her. This is the moment Kaido became one of the most powerful creatures in the entire One Piece world, seeing as the Uo Uo no Mi gave him the power to transform into a giant azure dragon that can fly and shoot fire from his mouth, an ability that he quickly learned to use against Imu.

Nikyu Nikyu No Mi

Eaten By Bartholomew Kuma

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 473 (Manga) Episode 368 (Anime)

This Devil Fruit is the single most important one that was featured in the God Valley Incident, as its usage changed the course of history forever, on more than one occasion. A young Bartholomew Kuma found the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi (which was another one of the competition’s prizes) and quickly ate it before Big Mom and Saint Jaygarcia Saturn could take it away from him.

The Nikyu Nikyu no Mi allows Kuma to repel anything with his new paw pads, a fascinating ability that he can use to basically teleport people to other locations. Not only did he use this newfound power to save countless slaves and innocent civilians from the cruelty of the Celestial Dragons (including himself and his friends), but he was even able to prevent a possessed Xebec from slaying his wife, Eris, and his son, Marshall D. Teach, at the very last second.

Gura Gura No Mi

Eaten By Edward Newgate (Whitebeard)

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 552 (Manga) Episode 461 (Anime)

By the time the God Valley Incident started, Edward Newgate had already eaten the Gura Gura no Mi, become known as one of the strongest pirates in the world, and basically acted as the right-hand man of this captain, Rocks D. Xebec. Thanks to this Devil Fruit, Whitebeard can basically create giant shockwaves that can cause destructive earthquakes and/or tsunamis.

One Piece: Devil Fruits That Don’t Suit Their Users

While every pirate and marine wants a Devil Fruit, these characters don’t exactly seem suited to the power they’ve been given.

Whitebeard used his potent powersto fight other rampaging pirates at God Valley and even went on to land a massive physical attack on Imu, alongside some of his crewmates. However, he was still nowhere near as strong as some of the other key figures on the island, which is why he was forced to escape and form his own pirate crew.

Soru Soru No Mi

Eaten By Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom)

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 552 (Manga) Episode 461 (Anime)

Charlotte Linlin actually acquired the powers of the Soru Soru no Mi years before the God Valley Incident, back when she was a kid and, in a morbid turn of events, accidentally devoured the Devil Fruit’s previous user, Mother Carmel. As a result, she’s able to steal the souls of other living beings and use them to grant life to inanimate objects, like balls of fire and thunderclouds.

Big Mom can be seen wielding her two main Homies, Zeus and Prometheus, during the entirety of the God Valley Incident, which gave her a major advantage in combat. At one point, she even revealed a powerful, never-before-seen technique called Heavenly Fire Blitz, but, unfortunately for her, it was no match for Monkey D. Garp. Additionally, Linlin later utilized her powers to attack Imu alongside her crewmates.

Fuwa Fuwa No Mi

Eaten By Shiki

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 0 (Manga) Episode 426 (Anime)

Shiki the “Golden Lion” has always been one of the most fascinating One Piece characters, not only because he’s one of many historical figures in this world who used to be part of the Rocks Pirates, but also because he was the main antagonist of an animated film whose canonicity is still being debated among fans. Nevertheless, in both that movie and in the manga, he got the chance to showcase the incredible powers of his Fuwa Fuwa no Mi multiple times.

This Devil Fruit allows Shiki to control any inanimate object he touches, to the point that he can make them float (similarly to telekinesis). Like most members of the Rocks Pirates, Shiki used his ability to fight other pirates at God Valley, but he was more concerned about the treasure than with the sudden appearance of the World Government’s higher-ups. He was eventually able to seize a good chunk of the booty and went off to form his own pirate crew.

Jiki Jiki No Mi

Eaten By Captain John

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 504 (Manga) Episode 398 (Anime)

This is where the God Valley Incident starts to become particularly interesting, because the manga’s most recent flashback revealed that many members of the Rocks Pirates had actually eaten pre-existing Devil Fruits that, chronologically, would later be eaten by other characters. In the case of Captain John, he could be seen wielding the magnetic powers of the Jiki Jiki no Mi, which is better known as Eustass Kid’s Devil Fruit.

John used this power similarly to his successor, as not only could he cover his arm with a durable metal gauntlet, but he also stole multiple chests from his crewmates with it, which explains why he’s famous for having hidden one of the biggest treasures in the One Piece world. It’s safe to assume that, many years after the incident, John passed away and his corpse was stolen by Gecko Moria, while the Jiki Jiki no Mi reincarnated, and it was eaten by Kid.

Bomu Bomu No Mi

Eaten By Ganzui

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 110 (Manga) Episode 65 (Anime)

One of the most mind-blowing moments in the God Valley Incident flashback was the reveal that Ganzui of the Rocks Pirates was the previous user of the Bomu Bomu no Mi, the very same Devil Fruit that would later be eaten by Mr. 5 of Baroque Works. With it, Ganzui could turn any part of his body into a destructive explosive.

He mainly used this destructive power to turn his own grime into bombs and flick it at his opponents, which is strikingly similar to how Mr. 5 flicked explosive boogers at his targets. Similarly to John, the fact that another character was seen wielding the powers of this Devil Fruit implies that Ganzui must have died later down the line, which was further cemented by the fact that his corpse was seemingly turned into a zombie by Gecko Moria.

Horo Horo No Mi

Eaten By Gill Bastar

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 442 (Manga) Episode 337 (Anime)

In a very brief “blink-and-you-miss-it” moment, another member of the Rocks Pirates called Gill Bastar can be seen summoning a cartoon ghost, meaning that he ate the Horo Horo no Mi, the same Devil Fruit that would later be eaten by Perona. He wasn’t really seen using these ghosts in battle, but it’s safe to assume that they can also fill his opponents with negative thoughts.

In reality, this is a brilliant and hilarious reference from author Eiichiro Oda’s part. Gill Bastar is a character from Wanted! — one of the one-shots he made before creating One Piece — and he’s a famous gunslinger who gets haunted by the ghost of Wild Joe, one of the many bounty hunters he killed. Similarly to his crewmates, Gill Bastar’s corpse can be seen among Gecko Moria’s zombie army, meaning that at one point he died and his reincarnated Devil Fruit was eventually found by Perona.

Aro Aro No Mi

Eaten By Manmayer Gunko

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 1135 (Manga)

Needless to say, the God Valley Incident was not only a conflict between pirates and Marines, as the elite squad in charge of protecting the Celestial Dragons, the Knights of God, was also present on the island. One of them is Manmayer Gunko, who’s notorious for having a Depths Covenant and for wielding the bizarre powers of the Aro Aro no Mi.

Elbaf isn’t over yet, and Oda has already introduced many broken Devil Fruits in One Piece

After eating this Devil Fruit, Gunko gained the ability to create and manipulate vectorial arrows that can pierce her opponents and control their movements. At the end of the day, however, Gunko spent most of the incident protecting the World Nobles, but she could be seen using her powers to hunt down some “rabbits”, which gave her a significant advantage during the Native Hunting Competition.

Iba Iba No Mi

Eaten By Shepherd Sommers

  • Type: Paramecia
  • Debut: Chapter 1143 (Manga)

Shepherd Sommers is the only other Knight of God who participated in the God Valley Incident that had eaten a Devil Fruit. In his case, he wielded the powers of the Iba Iba no Mi, which allows him to create and manipulate thorn-covered vines, which he often uses to hurt and torture his victims.

During the incident, Sommers was tasked with guarding Shakky (the grand prize of the competition) and with moving her to another location, which he tried to achieve by repeatedly torturing the woman with his deadly thorns. Just when Sommers was ready to kill her, Silvers Rayleigh suddenly appeared, defeated the God of Knight with a single attack, and was able to rescue Shakky, thus marking the beginning of their years-long romantic relationship.
