One Piece: The Destruction Of Elbaf Will Mark The Beginning Of The Final War

This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

Summary

  • Scopper Gaban is defeated by Gunko after hesitating due to a vision of harm to a hostage.
  • Elbaf is in trouble with the Holy Knights, and Imu seeking to showcase their power.
  • Elbaf’s destruction signifies the start of the Final War, with potential for a timeskip for power-ups.

One Piece Chapter 1149 dropped a major clue about the future of Elbaf. In the chapter, fans saw Scopper Gaban beat Shepherd Sommers and then take on Gunko. Since Gaban dominated the first Holy Knight, there was absolutely no way that he would struggle against the second. However, Eiichiro Oda was never going to make things so straightforward. The author’s decision to steer in that direction has divided opinion among fans, with some annoyed about Elbaf’s future.

Scopper Gaban Is Beaten By Gunko

Gunko beats Gaban in elbaf

In Chapter 1148, fans saw Scopper Gaban beating Shepherd Sommers and then heading to rescue the kids. After his display against Sommers, it was obvious that Gaban would beat Gunko without breaking a sweat. As he got closer, Collun got excited and shouted that his father had come to rescue them. Gunko immediately realized that she could use Collun as a hostage to force Gaban to surrender.

Don’t do it. I yield. —Scopper Gaban to Gunko

Gaban wanted to gamble, but his mind changed after seeing a vision of Collun being stabbed through the neck. Gaban laid down his weapons, and Gunko took full advantage of the situation by attacking him with the Aro Aro no Mi. Since Gaban was defenseless, he couldn’t protect himself from the attack.

The Situation In Elbaf Is Going To Get Worse

Imu takes over Gunko's body

Scopper Gaban’s defeat means that there is currently no one in Elbaf who can deal with the Holy Knights. To make matters worse, Imu also took over Gunko’s body in Chapter 1149, and they want to show everyone in Elbaf the true strength of a God. Presently, there is little to no information about Imu or their personality, but as the head of the World Government, they can’t be any different from the Gorosei. Imu doesn’t seem to have any regrets about wiping entire islands off the face of the earth.

So, there is a good chance that Imu will try to destroy Elbaf, kill the Straw Hats, and anyone else who dares to stand in their way. Currently, Imu is in Gunko’s body, but they can take control over the bodies of other Holy Knights if they want to. The next chapter of One Piece will also reveal the potency of Imu’s Haki. So far, Joy Boy is considered to be the strongest Haki user, but that could change soon.

Elbaf’s Destruction Will Mark The Beginning Of The Final War

The Final War Will Start After Elbaf

Elbaf is not just the most powerful nation in One Piece, but it also has one of the richest histories. The people of Elbaf value their history, and the destruction of the library will not go down well with the people of Elbaf. They will not forgive the Holy Knights and anyone else associated with the World Government. The organization is aware of the Giants’ strength, which is why it tried to enslave them in the first place. However, there is little to no chance that the Giants will accept.

The destruction of Elbaf symbolizes the beginning of the Final War. The Giants have ties to Nika, the Sun God, so they will definitely fight against Imu and his evil army. The only way Imu can make the Giants submit is with the help of the hostages, but the Straw Hats won’t let that happen. Gaban has been beaten, but there are other impressive fighters in Elbaf, including Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Loki. All these are combatants of the biggest order, and they will certainly find a way to nullify the threat of Imu and the Holy Knights. Once the Holy Knights have been dealt with, the Straw Hats and the denizens of Elbaf can focus on restoring whatever remains of the country.

There is also a good chance there will be a timeskip after the Elbaf arc because the Straw Hats need more power-ups to fight the opponents in the Final Saga. Whether this comes true or not will be revealed in the coming weeks, so fans should keep an eye on the next chapters.
