PC gamers wanting to add yet another free game to their digital libraries should make sure to snag Immortals Fenyx Rising from Ubisoft Connect by December 2 at 4:00am CST. There’s never a shortage of free games for PC gamers to claim, with freebies available through the Epic Games Store on a weekly basis, Steam sporadically throughout the month, and through other sites like GOG, Fanatical, and publishers themselves.
A couple of weeks ago, Ubisoft launched a special free game giveaway to celebrate five years of Ubisoft Connect. In a post highlighting Ubisoft Connect’s various upgrades over the years, like cross-progression, cross-play, and cross-platform achievements, Ubisoft also announced that it would be giving Immortals Fenyx Rising away completely free of charge. Immortals Fenyx Rising usually retails for $39.99 through Ubisoft, so getting it for free is certainly a steal.
Immortals Fenyx Rising’s Sequel Could Have Been a Welcome Break From Tradition For Ubisoft
Immortals Fenyx Rising 2 had a ton of potential to break free from Ubisoft’s core gameplay loop, but it may never see the light of day now.
Immortals Fenyx Rising is Free for a Limited Time
Anyone interested in getting Immortals Fenyx Rising for free should be sure to claim their free copy by December 2 at 4:00am CST. At that point, the giveaway will end, and it’s unclear if Ubisoft will be replacing it with any other free game. Since the Immortals Fenyx Rising giveaway is meant to celebrate five years of Ubisoft Connect, fans shouldn’t hold their breath that the free game giveaways will become a common occurrence like they are on the Epic Games Store.
What is Immortals Fenyx Rising?
First released at the end of 2020, Immortals Fenyx Rising is a Greek mythology open world game from Ubisoft that features gameplay not unlike The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game earned mostly positive reviews for its narrative and gameplay, but it failed to make much of a commercial splash. Indeed, Immortals Fenyx Rising appears to have flown totally under the radar for many, with a measly all-time Steam concurrent player count of 2,300 players.
Ubisoft giving away Immortals Fenyx Rising for free should ensure that a lot more gamers have the chance to discover the game for themselves. Unfortunately for anyone that plays Immortals Fenyx Rising for free and loves it, reports indicate that an ambitious sequel to the game was ultimately canceled. Described as Wind Waker meets Elden Ring, it’s a shame that the canceled Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel will seemingly never materialize.
Immortals Fenyx Rising Isn’t the Only Free PC Game You Can Get Right Now
Immortals Fenyx Rising is free through Ubisoft Connect until December 2, but there is another free game PC gamers can claim right now. Until December 4 at 10:00am CT, Universe for Sale is free on the Epic Games Store. A sci-fi adventure game, Universe for Sale earned mostly positive reviews and should be another solid addition to anyone’s Epic Games Store library.
The Epic Games Store has already revealed the free game that will replace Universe for Sale on December 4. That same day, EGS users can look forward to getting The Darkside Detective and The Jackbox Party Pack 4 for free. The former is a comedic, pixelated mystery game while the latter is a party game collection.
There are no free Steam games at the time of this writing, but users on the platform can claim free Hitman 3 DLC. The Hitman 3 Makeshift Pack DLC is free on Steam until November 29 at 12:00pm CST, so anyone interested should be sure to claim it while it’s still up for grabs.
