Decor Pikmin arrive in Pikmin 4 as well
After releasing the animated Pikmin short “Close to You” earlier this month, Nintendo is back spotlighting its iconic little dudes. On Wednesday, the publisher announced Pikmin 4 will be receiving a free update in November.
The update will bring a photo mode to 2023’s Pikmin 4. The Field Camera will allow you to snap pictures of your favorite Pikmin moments, decorate them with stamps and frames, and alter them with filters. The update teases the Field Camera “may even be the key to adding Decor Pikmin to your crew,” which is the other major part of the update.
Decor Pikmin were first seen in the mobile game Pikmin Bloom. They’re adorned with some sort of accessory or decoration, like wearing a donut around their waist or snow as a hat. Decor Pikmin you find in Pikmin 4 will join your group of Pikmin, and they can also be transferred to Pikmin Bloom. Speaking of the mobile game, Ice Pikmin from Pikmin 4 will also now be making their way to Pikmin Bloom.
Rounding out the forthcoming Pikmin 4 update are difficulty options. Relaxed mode will make it so creatures will only attack if provoked. They’ll also be easier to defeat once attacked. Meanwhile, Fierce mode will ramp up the challenge a tad. Both new modes can be selected and changed at any point during a playthrough.
Nintendo didn’t announce a specific date for the free update, just saying it would release sometime in November. An updated demo will be released to the eShop the same day as well.
Pikmin 4 is available on Nintendo Switch and backward compatible on the Nintendo Switch 2.
