The latest update, Heart of Democracy, dropped on May 20. Players rushed to finally fight on Super Earth, and they weren’t disappointed. All the amazing details completely won over the community. Pilestedt, the CCO at Arrowhead, used the opportunity to discuss the future of Helldivers 2 with the players, including a possible SEAF Stratagem.
The CCO Discusses SEAF Troops in Helldivers 2
As you probably know by now, Johan Pilestedt is one of Helldivers’ favorite devs. He’s officially no longer working on Helldivers 2, but he still loves to check in with the player base occasionally. That’s exactly what he did following the latest update. Pilestedt took to his X, and asked: “How do you feel about the new arc? What’s your highest of lights?”.
Now, if you’ve played this game since the last update, you know just how amazing it is. The devs have truly outdone themselves. Thus, the majority of the players’ answers were extremely positive. However, some players took the opportunity to ask some questions about the devs’ future plans.
Since the lovely SEAF troops have been possibly the biggest win of this update, players wanted to know if the devs had more plans for them. One player, everybodydrops, asked: “I really like the SEAF guys, maybe you guys could add a stratagem to call in a 6-8 man squad of them via a Pelican or two? Maybe fast rope down, to help reduce landing area issues?”.
Pilestedt coyly answered: “We’ll have to see what happens”. Now, you might remember, months ago, players dug up an old video of the unreleased SEAF troop Stratagem. Could it be that Pilestedt was hinting at that Stratagem? We can only hope so!
Of course, some players are loving the SEAF troops so much that they want to join their ranks. One player, Theron Alvord, stated: “I want a new game mode now where we play as SEAF”. The CCO replied: “I don’t think that will happen… but maybe something similar to a moba setting where you have to pave the way for SEAF? We’ll have to see”.
Pilestedt Reveals Which Collab Helldivers Shouldn’t Expect
Unfortunately, it wasn’t all smiles and SEAF troops, as Pilestedt made a revelation that Helldivers 2 players didn’t really like. He revealed which collab would be impossible. It’s the one the majority of Helldivers asked for – Halo 3: ODST.
When a player mentioned ODST, Pilestedt broke the news. He noted: “ODST armor is so cool – but I wouldn’t keep my hopes up. It’s MS that owns Halo, and something like that has never been done”.
This saddened many Helldivers, since they wanted this collab so badly, they even came up with an ODST challenge. Still, the fact remains that with the devs this devoted, Helldivers 2 will have a great future, no matter the lack of ODST armor.
