The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster is an RPG like every other, so naturally, you need Gold to get around in the game, and the players share the best ways to get some.
The fabled Oblivion Remaster was shadowdropped a week ago, on April 22, after the first (and only) official announcement. Unsurprisingly, the players got it as quickly as they could, and it quickly became one of the most talked-about games of today, and is even “verified” (a very loose term) on Steam Deck. It provides a perfect blend of modern engine and visuals with the “old” Oblivion game all know and love, with all its glitches and quirks. It is basically the same game we all know and love, just updated to today’s standards. And naturally, the majority of the “exploits” we had are present as well. While on that topic, some players are wondering what the best way to get Gold in the game is. While not exploits per se, there are some sneaky ways you can get gold fast, and veterans came together and offered some advice.
Best Ways to Get Gold in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remaster, According to Players
Whether you need a quick coin or want to be a Cyrodiil Millionaire, there are various ways you can get your hands on some Gold. Sure, you will inevitably get Gold by adventuring, selling dungeon loot, finishing quests, and in all the other usual ways. However, the community suggests a couple of simple methods you can get money with minimum effort, so let’s see what they are.
Alchemy
The most common answer to the “How to Get Gold Fast” issue is to dabble in Alchemy. More specifically, to create potions and sell them. Now, why is this the best way to get Gold? It is free, does not put you into danger, it is pretty fast and simple, and you even level up your skill as a bonus (earning you even more money, explained below).
For even a Novice-level potion, you will get somewhere between 15 and 30 Gold (depending on your Luck, Mercantile Skill, and your Alchemy Skill – potions made by an experienced Alchemist are worth more!). And let’s not forget that the ingredients are basically free, most of the time.
So, here is a quick trick on how to make the best out of this, by mass producing the Restore Fatigue potions. Try to get your hands on as much fruit and vegetables as you can, which share the same alchemical effect, ie, those that restore fatigue. For example, those are Grapes, Carrots, Corn, Tomato, Potato, etc. These can be found around the countryside for free, especially in farms and vineyards. Then combine two of these ingredients using the Mortar and Pestle, and voila, you just made your very own Restore Fatigue potion. Repeat this process as many times as you can and then head back to a city of your choice, and visit a Merchant or an Alchemist. Sell your batch of potions and you’ll be one step closer to becoming rich. The “natural” ingredients tend to respawn in a couple of days, so you can repeat this process to your heart’s content.
Arena
If you don’t see yourself running around and picking flowers all day long, then the Imperial Arena may be just for you. There are two ways you can get rich in the Arena: betting on fights and fighting there yourself.

Betting on fights is the easier way. Speak to an NPC called Hundolin, and he will give you the option to bet on the upcoming fight. Choose either the Blue or the Yellow team, whichever you prefer. It is believed that there is a 50/50 chance of your selected fighter winning the fight, with your Luck stat having a considerable influence here. As for the money, the rate is 2:1, ie, if your fighter wins, you will get double what you paid.
The tougher (and more fun) way to get money in the Imperial City Arena is by participating in the fight yourself. Speak to the NPC called Owyn the Blademaster and sign up to fight. Each win will get you a reward in Gold, and you will ascend the Ranks of the Arena. Naturally, the higher your Rank, the tougher enemies you will face, and the higher the rewards. You start with a 50-100 Gold reward in the lower levels, and that rises up to 450-500 Gold reward per fight, with the ultimate reward for beating the Arena Champion being 1000 Gold. After becoming the Champion, you can schedule weekly fights for extra Gold.
Not the most profitable way of getting Gold, but it is the most fun!
Selling Stolen Goods
If you are all about sneaking around and stealing, then selling other people’s possessions may be just what you need.

For this to work, to have access to a Fence, you need to be a member of the Thieves Guild. To do so, you have to be jailed, where the Thieves Guild representative will contact you and offer you a quest to become a member. Once you do so, you will get quests for the Guild and access to a Fence, ie, a merchant that buys stolen goods (honest merchants will not do that and will most likely report you…a great way to end up in jail!). So when you become a member, you are free to pilfer, pickpocket, and burgle your way to becoming rich.
Selling Honest Goods
The last method on our list is the one that is basically ever-present in the game. Oblivion is an open-world RPG after all, so exploration is mandatory. That will take you into battles where you can loot your fallen foes and into dungeons where you can find valuables. All of those (except those marked as stolen) can be sold to honest merchants all over Cyrodiil.
We can really say that this is a special method of getting rich, but still, we decided to include it in our list. Best of luck on your quest to become the richest citizen of Cyrodiil.
