Pokemon Gen 10 leaks surface online, showing a video of the new games’ battle gimmick. While Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Mega Dimension DLC just came out and there may be more content on the way for the game, leaks surrounding Pokemon Gen 10 games are not stopping anytime soon, with more Teraleak documents and assets appearing on social media. In October, there was a massive Teraleak of Pokemon Gen 10 and future games, sharing key information regarding the development and key concepts of what Game Freak is working on. Since Gen 9 has entered its fourth year and 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the franchise, it’s obvious that Gen 10 is around the corner.
Nothing is officially known about Gen 10 games, as the very first trailer for them may be shown next year on Pokemon Day, February 27. However, the Teraleak included many crucial details so far, such as the working titles, the games’ setting, Gen 10’s box Legendary Pokemon, starters, and more – even images. Now, a new leak is a short video of the game’s early build that shows the battle gimmick for Gen 10 in action. It has huge One Piece vibes, and it may not be for everyone.
Pokemon Gen 10 Leaks Ride Mechanics, Scrapped Features, New Image
Pokemon Gen 10 has been affected by multiple leaks, now including an explanation of ride mechanics, scrapped features, and a new image.
Say Hello to Pokemon Gen 10’s First Battle Gimmick Video
The early Pokemon Gen 10 leaks indicated that the battle gimmick for the titles would be based around weather. This fits the themes of the games, as Pokemon Wind and Wave are the official names of Gen 10 games, according to leaks. In the video, you can see a Pikachu being distorted, as if seen through some kind of reflection or mist, and it glows red. There is a shadow on the ground in front of the Pikachu that is shaped like a cloud, giving further credence to the previous leaks about Gen 10’s battle gimmick being Weather Moves.
Pokemon Gen 10’s battle gimmick is codenamed “Majin,” according to leaks.
This video appeared on the Twitter page of renowned leak aggregator Centro Leaks, and for those familiar with it, it is quite similar to the visual effect of Luffy’s Gear Third in One Piece. With this technique, Luffy inflates his body to create massive limbs that wreak havoc on his enemies. Much like Luffy’s bones, Pikachu’s body in the Gen 10 leaked video seems to go through inflation and deflation, creating this distorted effect. One could argue that it also resembles Gear Second, which has Luffy’s skin turn red while steam emerges from him, resulting in incredible speed.
Regardless of its possible One Piece inspiration or the coincidence behind it, Pokemon Gen 10’s battle gimmick seems very different from Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s new Mega Evolutions in concept, and quite unlike anything else in the series as far as gimmick. At the same time, it seems very much like something that the games would do, as weather is already a big part of the series, with dedicated battle effects, some moves becoming more powerful or accurate, and some VGC strategies being entirely founded on it โ especially Rain teams.
Pokemon Games and Their Gimmicks So Far
So far, Pokemon gimmicks have been the following:
- Mega Evolution (Gen 6): A selection of Pokemon that can’t evolve or have no further evolution slots available get a new, temporary form with Mega Evolution.
- Z-Moves (Gen 7): Pokemon get a dedicated move that’s specific to their species and is very powerful, only usable once per battle.
- Dynamax and Gigantamax (Gen 8): All Pokemon can Dynamax, becoming much bigger and stronger for three turns, whereas only a few Pokemon can Gigantamax, obtaining special forms and moves.
- Terastallization (Gen 9): Every Pokemon can Terastallize to change their type to a specific one, which can also be chosen with in-game currency.
As such, it’s plausible that Gen 10 will include weather moves that temporarily change the appearance of a given Pokemon while also unlocking special or more powerful moves. The aesthetics may be entirely new, but the core conceit is not alien to the series. Fans will have to wait and see, but more details are likely to surface in the coming weeks, especially after Pokemon Day reveals for Pokemon in 2026.
