Pokemon GO fans are asking Scopely and The Pokemon Company to make a major change to the game’s Community Days, expanding the timeframe for players to participate. The beloved monster-catching mobile game offers a wide array of different events with an assortment of Pokemon, ranging from bigger seasonal events to recurring spotlights for specific Pokemon. Pokemon GO‘s monthly Community Day events are a mainstay of the game’s calendar, boosting spawn rates for specific Pokemon, while Raid Days and Max Battle events pit fans against some of the game’s most powerful creatures. However, one point of Community Day events has been a particular pain for many players.
Despite the use of “Day” in the tagline for Pokemon GO‘s Community Day events, each event typically contains its increased spawns to a specific time slot. Community Day festivities normally last for roughly three hours on the day of the event, beginning at 2:00 P.M. and ending at 5:00 P.M. local time. The limited timeframe of the event has often been cited as creating difficulties for Pokemon GO players looking to participate, with real-world commitments getting in the way of players partaking in the event. Some fans are now suggesting that Pokemon GO‘s Community Day event should change to better fit its title.
Pokemon GO Fans Have One Big Complaint About Events
A Pokemon GO fan points out an issue regarding certain limited events, prompting players to agree on the need for a solution in the future.
A post shared to the Pokemon GO subreddit by Reddit user Entire_Pineapple4732 suggests that the mobile game needs to extend its Community Days. The post shares the player’s own frustrations with Pokemon GO‘s rigid time slots for its Community Day events, with the event often clashing with other commitments, like work shifts and family gatherings. The Reddit user suggests that Pokemon GO should consider moving to a structure that encompasses more of the day, even proposing that the events should run from 6:00 A.M. until midnight.
The idea of extending Pokemon GO‘s Community Day events was a popular one amongst other fans of the game. Many replies echoed the original poster’s concerns, with their participation affected not only by working during the timeframe but also by players working night shifts. Some fans also cited the winter months as playing a major factor in their participation, with earlier sunsets causing fewer players to go out and participate in the Pokemon GO events. The suggested change to the timeframe for Community Day events would not even be the first time Pokemon GO has adjusted its Community Days.
While fans have complained about Pokemon GO‘s short Community Day events, the events have not always seen such short timeframes. Before April 2022, Pokemon GO previously offered six-hour windows for players to take advantage of the Community Day boosts, with Community Days throughout much of 2020 and 2021 running from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. local time. The timeframe of the event was originally changed as an answer to the COVID-19 pandemic, with many players not able to go out and play Pokemon GO due to travel and gathering restrictions.
Pokemon GO recently held its final Community Day event of 2025 in a fashion similar to previous years, celebrating each Pokemon featured throughout the year. December’s Community Day event is available for two days on December 7 and December 8, with 12 different Pokemon appearing at boosted rates during the festivities. The first day’s lineup included a pair of Gen 9 starters with Fuecoco and Sprigatito, among others like Pawmi, Vanillite, and Karrablast, while the second day included Pokemon like Quaxly, Flabebe, and Pikipek. The events even offered some special spawns during the last ten minutes, with Machop, Eevee, Totodile, and Ralts all showing up for the conclusion. Pokemon GO extending its Community Day hours could be a welcome change that would give even more fans the chance to take part in the fun.
