Well, Borderlands 4‘s latest update came and went on November 20, and I somehow missed one of its biggest, most lasting issues. If you’re like me, you might have missed it too, and for a number of reasons. I’ve been playing a ton of ARC Raiders, for one thing, but that isn’t even half of why I haven’t logged into Borderlands 4 in a while. It’s a great game, and I thoroughly enjoyed it for several weeks after launch. However, here lately, it just hasn’t been doing it for me — hence why I missed one of the most important parts of this last update.
I, like many others, was waiting for the most recent update to arrive, after multiple weeks of being told that content was on the way. It was a strange few weeks, to be honest, because leading up to October 30, Borderlands 4 had received some major game-changing patches. Some of those brought upsetting adjustments to the game’s meta (looking at you, Infinite Bleed nerf), and others revolved more around bringing the most rejected Vault Hunters up to par with the rest. Needless to say, the wait between those updates and the one we just got on November 20 contributed to my departure from the game for the time being. That’s ultimately why one now-resolved issue flew under my radar, and I feel I can hardly benefit from it anymore now that I’m not playing.
Borderlands 4 Finally Fixed Its Class Mod Bug
After over two months since its release, Borderlands 4 finally fixed its frustrating Class Mod bug. Prior to the November 20 update, there was an issue where Class Mods would drop more frequently for any class but the one you were playing when the drop happened. In other words, while I was busy mowing down Order with Vex, most of the Class Mod drops I got were for Amon, Harlowe, and Rafa. I did get a Vex Class Mod here and there, but the drops were so infrequent that the chances of me finding one that was relevant to my build were next to nothing.
Now, it seems that if I wanted to, I could log into Borderlands 4 and treat myself to its newfound Class Mod drop rates, which, according to the official patch notes, “have been adjusted to drop more for your current character.” In the end, I know I’m to blame for not reading the patch notes more thoroughly — or at all, really — because I’ll admit I was more concerned with the fact that the update arrived alongside the launch of Borderlands 4‘s first Bounty Pack DLC than anything else. I had a feeling that would happen, but not only did the first DLC end up costing players nothing, it completely overshadowed the patch I had been waiting weeks for.
It seems Gearbox might have known that some players would miss it too, because they singled out the Class Mod fix in a recent post on the official Borderlands X account. In fact, that is actually how I found out about the issue being resolved, after a notification popped up on my desktop and the words “we heard your feedback” had me intrigued.
I suppose at this point I’ll need to log into Borderlands 4 to experience the fix for myself, and maybe it’ll be enough to pull me back into the game for a while. However, with ARC Raiders continually calling me back to the surface for loot I can really utilize, Gearbox’s latest looter shooter has less of a draw on me. Still, I’d say it’s at least worth jumping in long enough to get a decent Class Mod for each of my Vault Hunters in Borderlands 4 — one that finally fits the builds I initially worked so hard to craft.
