Some awesome improvements are on the way to R.E.P.O. The devs reveal that Cart Weapons and some significant tweaks are coming to REPO Open Beta soon.
REPO still has a respectable number of players, considering the fact that it is in Early Access. Those games tend to have a huge number of players in the first few days, and then lose 90% of them in a matter of weeks. But, REPO is still going strong, and the devs frequently reveal what improvements they have in store for the game. The Open Beta Test, where those improvements can be tested, was recently opened to the public. And now, the devs announce what to expect next.
REPO Devs Reveal Some Major Tweaks and Cart Weapons Coming to the Beta Soon.
Almost every Friday, the devs reveal a new devlog video, and this one is no different. Semiwork just released a video where they talk about some upcoming changes to R.E.P.O. This time, they talk about some significant tweaks to Health and Energy Crystals, some improvements to stunning enemies on lower levels, and the best of all – new weapons that you can mount on your cart. Note that these changes are not yet in the game, and are coming soon to the Beta.
Health and Energy Crystals Tweaks
The devs were more than aware of the “health glitch” which allowed players to use the healing packs, and have promptly dealt with it. However, some fans were a bit disappointed, which led the devs to wonder whether the health system requires a bit more work.
With that, it was revealed that they plan to tweak the Health system, so that it will be easier to heal your entire team, by offering a “Team Discount”. The more players you have in your group, the cheaper the Health Packs will be. The same will apply to Energy Crystals. The more people you have in the group, the greater the demand for the Crystals and Health Packs, so this change will be welcomed by all.
Additionally, the truck will recover more Health than before, based on the level you are in.
- Levels 1 to 5 – restores 50 HP
- Levels 6 to 10 – restores 35 HP
- After Level 10 – restores 25 HP
Stunning Enemies
Next, the devs plan to make the enemies at lower levels easier to stun. “Some of you were unhappy with enemies not being able to be stunned by lightweight items. So we are going to solve this by making the enemies more ‘Unsteady’ below Level 5. Basically, they will be easier to stun with smaller items, but after Level 5, the enemies are going to be a bit more steady on their feet”.
So, getting to those “mid” levels will be significantly easier. Great news for newer players, or those who are struggling with those first couple of levels on their own.
Cart Weapons
The best we have saved for the last. It was revealed that weapons for the cart are coming to the Beta soon. Those weapons are the Cart Cannon and the Cart Laser. Basically, the weapon is mounted on the Cart, and naturally, moves with it. To use the cannon, one player must jump inside the cart, “grab” it (like any other weapon), point towards the target, and shoot (again, like any other ranged weapon).
As mentioned, there will be a Cart Cannon that shoots explosive rounds, and a Cart Laser that shoots a laser beam, much like the Clown does. Watch out for friendly fire! And of course, one player can move the cart around while the other is manning the Cannon, turning you into a R.E.P.O. tank. Now imagine two carts, both with weapons, moving in unison! However, the downside is that those weapons take up considerable space in the Cart, but you can’t have it all.
These changes sound pretty awesome, and we can’t wait to test them out. We just don’t know when that will be. The devs said “coming soon”, but have not revealed the exact date. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long.
