It’s been a while since the last RE game. But there is a reason for it, as an insider claims that Resident Evil 9 will reinvent the series, once it comes out.
The last major title in the Resident Evil franchise was RE: Village, released back in 2021. It proved pretty successful, but since then, we only had a multiplayer spinoff (Resident Evil – Re: Verse, in 2022) and a remake (Resident Evil 4 Remake, in 2023). It has been noted by everyone that Capcom has been silent about the next major Resident Evil title for quite a while now. But it looks like there is a reason for it.
Insider Claims That Resident Evil 9 Is On the Way and Will Reinvent the Series
According to Dusk Golem, the next major RE game will be released this year and will reinvent the series, as stated in his post:
“…but I know a lot of people are also antsy at the lack of Resident Evil news for a year & a half now. The thing I think people will realize when RE9 is revealed is the reason this game is taking so long is because it’s like a big reinvention of the series, to the same level as RE4 & RE7. It’s not going to play just like RE7/RE8 or the Remakes, it’s trying new things & very ambitious. It will almost definitely be revealed this year, so just hold tight..”
The fans already give their suggestions, with some jokingly saying that, since we already had a third-person shooter and a first-person shooter, the next RE will be a racing game. Others are genuinely worried that it may be an open-world game. “There were rumors it will be open world and I’d be devastated if that were true,” said Returning_Video_Tape.
Is Dusk Golem Trustworthy?
Between all the claims and rumors, a lot of fans do not really trust Dusk Golem’s statements. He’s accused of making up stuff about the game without anything to back him up. “Every time RE9 comes up, his name is attached and I know for a fact that what I’m reading is definitely not true, or at least, not sure.” said mezdiguida, ”Lol this dude is throwing EVERYTHING at the wall when it comes to RE9 that one of them has to stick. What an awful leaker.” stated manginaaa, and “This dude just continually says vague random [stuff] and people eat it up lol“ added Soul_of_Miyazaki.
So, with all the complaints people have about Dusk Golem, better take the above statement with a grain of salt, just in case.
