X-Academy Would Be A Risky Way To Setup An MCU X-Men Movie
There have been rumors of Marvel Studios creating an X-Academy series, but now isn’t the right time for it.
According to Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic, Jesse Plemons is one of the actors being eyed to play Beast in the X-Men reboot film. Plemons is a brilliant actor who has proven his qualities over the years, being best known for playing Todd Alquist in Breaking Bad and the spinoff El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. He got the chance to showcase a much darker side of his acting ability within this film, being a true villain who audiences all despised. However, his outstanding performance made the character so hated, even though he was never one of the focal points of the series as a main villain.
If Plemons were to take on the role of Beast, it would be a significant departure from his Breaking Bad character. Beast is one of the major heroes in X-Men, and it gives the actor a chance to showcase his new side. No actors are confirmed for any X-Men role at this point, but Harris Dickinson and Jack Champion have both been rumored for Cyclops, while Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink has been liked with Jean Grey. Regardless of who takes on the roles, they are high-pressure spots in the MCU and something Marvel Studios will take seriously.
Kelsey Grammer and Nicholas Hoult have previously played Beast, and Grammer has reprised the role in the MCU. He appeared in The Marvels, where he met Monica Rambeau in an alternate universe, which did bring up questions among MCU fans about whether or not Grammer would remain in the role long-term and appear in future movies via the multiverse. He was always a popular star in this role, with Grammer managing to get the balance between Beast’s intelligence and his more destructive side perfectly right.
However, it seems like Marvel Studios wants a younger cast for the main roles in X-Men, and Plemons would, therefore, be a smarter option than Grammer. It would open up the possibility of him playing Beast for a long time to come, and that’s something that needs to happen in the MCU. Beast is a character that Marvel Studios can do a lot with if he’s given the right focus within future X-Men films. Plemons has proven his ability as an actor, and he’s ready to take on a big challenge in the MCU.
