Rumor: ROG Xbox Ally Price Potentially Leaked

The price of the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handheld gaming devices has been potentially leaked ahead of an official update from Xbox and ASUS. The leak comes after rumors and speculation about the ROG Xbox Ally devices costing upwards of $800 at minimum, which is well over the $400 MSRP for the 256 GB LCD Steam Deck.

Xbox’s own handheld console has reportedly been canceled, but fans still saw a glimpse into what Xbox’s future in handheld gaming could bring during the June 8th Xbox Games Showcase. During the showcase, Xbox president Sarah Bond unveiled the new ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X handheld consoles, which will allow Xbox gamers to play many of their favorite games from Xbox Series X|S. A few weeks after the showcase, Bond and AMD president Lisa Su announced a partnership between Xbox and AMD to power the next-generation of Xbox platforms, which include home consoles, handhelds, cloud technology, accessories, and more. Some official details about the Xbox Ally devices are still scarce after the reveal, but a leak gives some insight into how much each Ally model will cost.

Annoying Xbox Issue is Causing Problems

Some Xbox owners report an unexpected, annoying issue, sharing their experiences with the problem in the console’s community.

As reported by 3DJuegos and Insider Gaming, prices of the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X models were discovered on Google Search via the search engine’s store metadata, which was seemingly scrapped from ASUS’ own website. The Xbox Ally will reportedly cost €599 ($699) in Europe, while the Xbox Ally X costs €899 ($1049). It’s worth noting that these prices may be placeholders, and exact pricing for the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X models has not been officially revealed yet for the US.

ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X Prices Leaked in Europe

  • ROG Xbox Ally X – €899
  • ROG Xbox Ally – €599

In comparison, the previous ASUS ROG Ally X with the Z1 Extreme chip also costs €899 in Europe, and the base ROG Ally often retails for between €500 and €700. In the US, the pricing is very similar, at $899 for a new ROG Ally X and around $650 for a new ROG Ally at retailers like Best Buy. If the leaked prices are accurate, then gamers can expect price parity between the ROG and Xbox versions of the Ally gaming handhelds.

The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X will be released in holiday 2025, and afterwards, Xbox’s next-generation console is reportedly planned to release in 2027. Reports suggest that development of the next-gen Xbox console is continuing at “full pace,” and resources have been allocated towards the development of partner projects, similarly to Xbox’s collaborative efforts with ASUS in the creation of the ROG Xbox Ally. Xbox also plans to improve Windows 11 for handheld gaming devices, including the aforementioned ROG Xbox Ally handheld.
