RUMOR: The Defender Joining Daredevil In Born Again Season 2 Might Have Just Been Revealed

RUMOR: The Defender Joining Daredevil In Born Again Season 2 Might Have Just Been Revealed

Summary

  • Daredevil: Born Again expands the MCU’s offerings with a darker tone.
  • Krysten Ritter could be the next hero to join the franchise, based on her move to NYC.
  • There’s still a ton of interest in old Netflix favorites joining the MCU.

Daredevil: Born Again is just a day away from hitting Disney+, and taking the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a darker, grittier place than it’s been so far, and some recent happenings narrow down which other fan favorite from the Netflix era Marvel TV franchise could be heading into the franchise next.

Daredevil: Born Again has been a long time coming for fans of Charlie Cox’s character from the Netflix show Daredevil, which was a marked success and spawned multiple other Marvel shows on the streamer that eventually led to the crossover team up miniseries known as The Defenders. When it was announced that Cox would be returning to reprise the role within the MCU after the rights to the characters got back to Marvel Studios, many fans hoped that the Man Without Fear would give a repeat performance and bring the other heroes from his past TV adventures into the fold along with him. While there was no confirmation that this was going to happen, Kevin Feige not ruling out other Defenders joining Daredevil in the MCU gave fans hope that they would see those stars again.

Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin Simply Must Start Appearing In MCU Movies

The MCU’s Kingpin, aka Wilson Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, must start appearing in films for various reasons (not least because he’s great).

More recently, it’s been rumored that Cox might reunite with one of his fellow Defenders sooner than fans expect, and now there’s even more reason to suspect that Krysten Ritter’s fan-favorite Jessica Jones will be the first to make the jump. As highlighted by the aptly named Krysten Ritter Updates on X, the actress recently revealed that she’ll be in New York City for a time via a post to her Instagram story. Her post came almost in tandem with Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum revealing in an interview that filming on Daredevil: Born Again’s second season would be kicking off the next day… in New York City. While some are quick to point to her recent casting in Dexter: Resurrection, it’s just as likely that she’s there for Daredevil considering she was only announced as joining the cast within the last day or so and the bulk of the currently short cast list only signing on in January.

It’s worth noting that Ritter has been vocal about being ready and willing to join the MCU properly as Jessica Jones, going even further to tease fans on her Instagram with subtle nods to the role like her choice of attire or hairdo. These winks, nods and positive affirmations are more than fans have gotten from the other two potential returnees, Luke Cage’s Mike Colter and Iron Fist’s Finn Jones. While that’s not to say that those stars are unwilling to return, they haven’t been quite as enthusiastic as Ritter has.

There’s already a release window for Daredevil: Born Again season two and backstage confidence that the show will make it a third season and potentially even beyond. Fans won’t have to wait too long to see for themselves if Ritter will be making the jump to the MCU, or if one of the other stars from the Netflix era will lead the way in after Cox. Whichever way things end up, it’ll be a good sign for the rest of the old franchise, and fans have a whole season of Born Again to look forward to in the meantime.

Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
