You just don’t know who to believe anymore. We first heard that the chances of The Last of Us Part 3 are slim at best, and now, rumors claim that it is already in advanced production.
The Last of Us is an incredibly popular series of post-apocalyptic adventure games that even got a pretty good live-action adaptation. The games have two Parts, while the TV series is just about to air its second Season. That begged the question of whether the games will get the third part. Will we ever see The Last of Us Part 3? Some recent interviews claimed that it most likely would not happen. But now, rumors claim otherwise.
The Last Of Us Part 3 Is Already in Advanced Production, According to Rumors
We recently covered how Niel Druckmann, the brains behind The Last of Us games and the current president of Naughty Dog, stated that we shouldn’t bet on there being a third part of the game. “This could be it.” The fans took the news pretty well, stating that the story has reached a natural end and that forcing another sequel is just unnecessary. Of course, others who hoped for another TLOU game were not so happy with this. Whatever your stance on this, it looked like this really is, well, it.
However, according to an insider named Daniel Richtmann (and shared by DomTheBomb), The Last of Us part 3 is not only on the way but is in advanced development, with the dev team already done with casting, and even filmed some scenes. Unfortunately, nothing more is said on the topic, and we can’t find anything to support this claim, so take it with a massive dose of salt.
To further the idea, during a documentary, “Grounded II: Making The Last of Us Part II”, which aired in February of last year, Niel ended the video saying: “…I have a concept…It does feel like there’s probably one more chapter to the story”.
So, there is a lot of contradicting information circling about. We know that Naughty Dog is working on a different IP altogether, called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Chances are we’ll get definitive information about TLOU Part 3 as they finish their work on Intergalactic. In the meantime, take everything with a grain of salt.
