September 2025 was absolutely loaded with amazing games. What’s your pick for this month’s top new title?

How is September over already? This month totally flew by, and I think a lot of it has to do with how many amazing new games dropped.

It started off with a massive, indie bang on Sept. 4 with Hollow Knight: Silksong, and it never really slowed down. The long-anticipated sequel hit on every level, somehow meeting the titanic expectations of the bug-centric MetroidVania.

And it never stopped. Basically every week, a big-name game dropped and reviewed pretty well, too. There was no shortage of greatness, no matter what your taste may be when it comes to your game or platform of choice.

Borderlands 4 followed up on Sept. 11, bringing the series its best gameplay yet, albeit mired by a slew of technical issues. The looter shooter genre was reinvigorated by its fun story, loot grind, and expansion of the in-game universe.

It’s a technicality since it came out last year in early access, but Hades 2 must be mentioned. It’s one of the best roguelike games ever made, in my humble opinion, and it improved upon the original classic in just about every way. I highly suggest picking it up whenever you can.

More recently, we had Silent Hill f. The latest in the decades-old survival horror franchise by Konami was met with rave reviews, calling it some of the best storytelling in the franchise despite its new setting and time period, staying true to the series.

More of a speed fan? Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds upped the ante in Sega’s kart racer with fun guest characters and teleporting in between worlds. Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Dying Light: The Beast, Cronos: The New Dawn and Hell is Us. These games may not be as flashy or high scoring as the others, but they brought some variety to the month on top of everything else.
