It’s always wonderful to see where the developers who create intricate worlds draw their inspiration from. More often than not, they use real-life animals and, well, take them up a couple of notches to create something completely new and breathtaking. The developers of Monster Hunter Wilds recently shared the concept art behind Ajarakan, and it’s quite amazing.
Devs Shared the Concept Art for Ajarakan
On March 6, the developers shared some interesting details about how they created Ajarakan on the game’s official X account. They explained what inspired them and which traits they applied to this monster.
The devs stated: “A look at concept art for the firey fanged beast, Ajarakan! The monster’s silhouette was inspired by an ape’s long, massive forelegs and huge body. The design motif is based on a spirit of legend often seen in Japan, with the rock-like shell and strong features in the front giving it a powerful look”.
Of course, the devs attached an image alongside. Once you know what inspired Ajarakan, it’s quite easy to see it in the concept art. The stance and the muscular body are obviously the “gorilla parts”. Also, we love that the final version of this monster is actually quite similar to the concept art.
Monster Hunter Wilds Players Love Ajarakan
Monster Hunter Wilds players shared their appreciation for this concept art, as they shared the trauma they went through while fighting Ajarakan. Many players admitted that they had the most trouble with this monster out of all. That is, at least for now.
One player, SpawnYaard, noted: “So far this has looked like the coolest monster to me. When the lava form kicks in, it goes”. Another player, AneeMate, added: “Ajarakan is easily the coolest monster so far—its lava form is straight…fire. I kept losing health nonstop during the fight (even after putting out fireblight)”.
The players loved how challenging Ajarakan was. One player stated: “This thing is cool. Tbh I had based my expectations on Rajang where it mostly uses elemental attacks and Arjakan uses mostly melee. This fight is much more enjoyable than that of Rajang”.
