Solo Leveling fans will never forget the moment when they saw Sung Jinwoo enter the double dungeon where he nearly lost his life. Most people who accompanied Sung Jinwoo died, and the hero’s fate wouldn’t have been any different if he hadn’t been selected as a vessel.
He was selected by the System to be the Player. A few days after the incident, Sung Jinwoo still wasn’t quite sure what had transpired. But with time, he understood that things had changed. Sung Jinwoo kept leveling up, yet he never found a lead that would answer his questions. This changed when he hit level 100 and received the key to the Cartenon Temple, where he encountered the Architect of the System.

Who Is The Architect In Solo Leveling?
The Architect’s real name is Kandiaru, and he was the secret boss of the Double Dungeon. He was responsible for creating and moderating the System in order to expedite the process of finding a suitable vessel for Ashborn. The Architect took great pride in his work, and he considered the System a work of art.
The Architect sent a key to Sung Jinwoo so that Ashborn could take over the Hunter’s body. When Jinwoo reached the dungeon, the Architect wasted no time in sending out his puppets to test the hero’s strength. If Sung Jinwoo hadn’t improved his stats, the statues would have obliterated him in seconds. Once the statues had been dealt with, the Architect joined the fray. To make things more exciting, he put up a 10-minute timer. If Sung Jinwoo failed to beat him, the System would automatically kill the hero.
Sung Jinwoo Was Pushed To His Limit
The Architect was much stronger than the regular puppets. His physical abilities were incredible, which was evident from the fact that Sung Jinwoo struggled to deal with him. The Architect was also proficient in different fighting styles. Initially, he matched Jinwoo in hand-to-hand combat, leaving the latter shocked.
It meant something. But now it doesn’t matter. —Sung Jinwoo
The Architect also had access to the Ruler’s Authority. Despite all his skills, the Architect couldn’t stop Sung Jinwoo and ended up being beaten by the hero. Shortly afterwards, the Architect decided to put Sung Jinwoo in a trance and then waited for the arrival of the Shadow Monarch. Kandiaru was confident that the Shadow Monarch would take over Jinwoo’s body, but he was in for a shock. Not only did Jinwoo free himself, but he claimed Ashborn’s black heart.
Following the incident, the Architect realized that the Shadow Monarch had turned his back on him. Fearing for his own life, the Architect decided to override the system and steal all the powers belonging to Jinwoo. Thankfully, Ashborn had locked him out of the system, which thwarted his plans. With no other option, the Architect could only scream in rage before Jinwoo sliced him into pieces.
Will The Architect Appear Again In The Third Season Of Solo Leveling?
- The Architect will likely feature in season 3 again
- Solo Leveling has not announced a third season
The Architect is an important side character, and he already appeared in the first season of Solo Leveling. Depending on the length and pacing of the third season, there is a good chance that he will reappear in the anime. Unfortunately, fans might have to wait for a couple of years before they get a sneak peek at the third season.
After the second season finished airing, a report was released that revealed the director of Solo Leveling was busy with other projects. Due to this reason, the anime did not enter production. For now, fans should remain patient, and hopefully, there will be some kind of update during the upcoming Jump Festa. It is plausible to assume that if the studio had something to share, it would be during the event. If the announcement is made at the end of 2025, Solo Leveling Season 3 will likely be released in late 2026 or early 2027. A-1 Pictures won’t want to rush things, so it will take its time with the production.
