So, Moradesh is lost. The planet isn’t destroyed just yet, but it will be. The Major Order gave the players a choice, and they made it almost accidentally. So who is to blame? Well, the truth is that with everything happening on the bot front, and the bug front, Squids just aren’t interesting enough to attract the players. Being a helpful community, Helldivers 2 suggested what the devs had to change about the Illuminate before they reached Super Earth.
Helldivers 2 Players Want More Illuminate Units
As you probably remember, the Illuminate arrived back in December. Well, at least some of them did. The players assumed the units that arrived were just a vanguard and quickly found ways to efficiently deal with every one of these units.
Helldivers expected the rest of the Illuminate units, like the Illusionists, Obelisks, and Summoners, to arrive soon after the vanguard. But, they still haven’t arrived. It’s been almost three full months of fighting the same 4 units, and the Helldivers can’t take it anymore.
One player noted: “The lack in variety is getting real boring. The Illuminate haven’t had any new additions to their armies since they released & there’s only… 5 different enemies??? Tripods, 2 Overseer variants, zombies & a flying crybaby machine! The Illuminate are cool, I like them. But I feel like they are the most minimal version of what they could be”.
The players are now only waiting for the Meridian Singularity storyline to unfold, as they hope they’ll get some new units then. However, this storyline is unfolding excruciatingly slowly, so there’s no way of telling how long it will last.

Illuminate Mission Types Could Also Use a Change
Unfortunately, according to Helldivers 2 players, the diversity of the Illuminate units isn’t the only thing that needs to change. As you know, there are limited mission types you can play, and the slippery Squids only attack and retreat, so Helldivers are just playing defense.
One player, its_David0530, pleaded: “Jesus Christ, can we get more than 4 mission types for the Illuminate? It’s been months and there’s genuinely maybe 4-5 different missions to play when fighting the Squids (2 of which are blitz/defense). There is no real incentive to fight them as the faction itself feels incomplete and they chose maybe the most boring mission types to implement”.
Many players agreed with this statement, and even more insisted they wouldn’t fight against the Squids until something, anything changed. Does that mean Super Earth could be in trouble? It could be, but we hope it won’t come to that.
So, dear devs, please, do the patriotic thing, and let the rest of the Squids join the Second Galactic War. Let the Helldivers teach them a lesson about Managed Democracy. We’ll gladly join them. For Liberty and Super Earth.
