More and more PlayStation games are coming to PC, and Sony has decided to offer in-game benefits to those players who link them up with their PSN account.
Naturally, to play games on your PlayStation, you need a PSN account. But, the PSN account is not mandatory for PC users. However, everyone has heard of the infamous PSN controversy regarding Helldivers 2. It resulted in Sony banning the sale of Helldivers 2 in areas where PSN is not supported, and, as you can imagine, the gaming community was in an uproar. Sony recently removed the ban on some countries, but gamers are still cautious with the whole PSN account linking feature. In hopes of combating it, Sony announced that some free in-game benefits are waiting for those PC users who link specific games to a PSN account.
In-Game Benefits Are In Store For PC Users Who Play Certain Games With a PlayStation Network Account
On January 29, Sony announced that starting with the PC release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 they are planning to add some benefits for playing with a PSN account. “An account for PlayStation Network will become optional for these titles on PC. Players who still opt to sign into a PlayStation Network account will also enjoy added benefits like trophies and friend management.”
They said that the PC versions of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and God of War Ragnarok will be “affected”.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 | Early unlock suits: the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit. |
God of War Ragnarok | Gain access to the Armor of the Black Bear set for Kratos at the first Lost Items chest in the Realm Between Realms (previously only accessible in a New Game+ run) and a resource bundle (500 Hacksilver and 250 XP). |
The Last of Us Part II Remastered | 50 points to activate bonus features and unlock extras; Jordan’s Jacket from Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as a skin for Ellie |
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered | Gain access to Nora Valiant outfit. |
Knowing how the gamers do not trust Sony and the whole PSN account situation, some would say that this is a desperate attempt to get some brownie points. On the other hand, this may simply be a nice gesture.
