There have been many rumors about what’s to come as the current storylines unfold. The first anniversary is fast approaching, and there are some indications that Helldivers will finally get to explore the Gloom. Well, the latest leaks suggest that Helldivers 2 players will get some fresh Objectives once the Gloom Expedition starts.
Leaks Suggest the Gloom Objectives Will Be Quite Demanding
One of the most prolific Helldivers 2 leakers, IronS1ghts, shared what they discovered in the game files. According to IronS1ghts, three new Objectives will be added for the Gloom Expeditions.
First up, the COLLECT GLOOM-INFUSED OIL Objective. The OP noted: “Automated oil extractors may still be operational. The oil, having been exposed to the planet’s substrate, could contain information on how the Gloom has altered the planet beneath the surface. It’s even possible it has somehow been made more potent”. Helldivers will have to collect samples of oil exposed to the Gloom.
The second Objective is to COLLECT GLOOM SPORE READINGS. IronS1ghts stated: “The probes were supposed to automatically transfer the data back to Ministry of Science servers, but unfortunately, the Gloom is interfering with their signal transmission”. Helldivers will have to find the probes sent into the Gloom and boost their signal so that the data can reach the Super Destroyer.
Finally, the third new Objective is the GLOOM LIDAR TOWERS. The leaker explained: “Gloom spores suffuse the planet’s atmosphere from the ground to the exosphere. It is possible that this is key to its ability to interfere with the Illuminate machinations. Utilize the scattered LiDAR towers normally used to gather topographical data and use them to measure the density and composition of Gloom spores. Secure research data on the Gloom in hopes of finding a way to stop the Meridian Singularity”. Helldivers will have to use LiDar towers to collect Gloom spore data and upload it from a communication relay.
Now, of course, the leaker confirmed that the current missions would still be available in the Gloom. However, there might be a twist in the form of so-called Spore Burst bugs, aka Gloom variants of the bugs.
Helldivers Are Looking Forward to Exploring the Gloom
These latest leaks about Gloom Objectives truly made the Helldivers 2 community excited for what’s to come. Seeing that there are Objectives connected to rumored missions into the Gloom made the Helldivers hopeful. Of course, since these are leaks, it’s entirely possible that something will be different in the final version, and the timeline is unknown.
Helldivers were quite hyped and praised the devs for their creativity. Some players even came up with interesting ideas on their own. One of them, Sir_Samuel_III, suggested: “I hope after some time in the Gloom they do something where the spores can infect Helldivers so you have to fight basically zombie Helldivers”. Sounds like a Terminid version of Voteless, and we love the idea.
