EA has revealed that the wildly popular co-op title Split Fiction will cost $49.99 on the Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders going live on April 24. Hazelight Studios’ newest game has been a massive hit since its March 2025 release, and those snagging a Nintendo Switch 2 this summer will be able to experience Split Fiction in an entirely new way.

There are only two new releases in 2025 that have earned a critic score of 90, and Split Fiction is one of them, along with the recently released puzzle adventure game Blue Prince. Similar to Hazelight’s former Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, Split Fiction is a split-screen multiplayer-only title, tasking two players with working together to complete a series of unique and difficult challenges. Its story follows two authors, Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster, who are pulled into the worlds of their stories and must escape a machine designed to steal their creative ideas. The smash hit was previously confirmed to be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch title, and some vital details about the port have now come to light.

In a new blog post on EA’s official website, it was confirmed that Split Fiction would cost $49.99 on the Nintendo Switch 2, with the title available for pre-order on April 24. This is the same price as the game’s PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions, something that will no doubt be a relief to eager players on Nintendo’s upcoming console. As confirmed by Hazelight Studio Founder Josef Fares and Chief Operating Officer Oskar Wolontis in a new Creator’s Voice video, Split Fiction will utilize the Nintendo Switch 2’s GameShare and GameChat features, and players with the original Switch are also welcome to play with a Switch 2 owner. Only one copy of the game will need to be purchased for two people to play together, and Cross Play will also be supported.

Split Fiction Nintendo Switch 2 Price and Pre-order Date

  • $49.99

Just days after the title’s release, a film adaptation of Split Fiction was announced, with the project being handled by the media company Story Kitchen. This isn’t the first time a Hazelight Studio game has been picked up for an adaptation, with both a film and TV series inspired by It Takes Two currently in the works at dj2 Entertainment Studios. No release dates for any of these projects have been announced.

Despite being known for co-op games, some players are eager to see what kind of single-player game Hazelight Studios could make. In March, Fares confirmed that the company would continue to focus on two-player games, but a single-player title isn’t completely out of the question.
