Starfield PlayStation 5 Port Is in the Works For a While Now, Says Tom Warren

Stafield is a bit of a controversial game, having both hits and misses. One of the most notable misses, as the gamer community claims, is that it is only playable on the PC and Xbox. Allegedly, Bethesda has been working on a Starfield PlayStation 5 port for a while now, according to Tom Warren.

In 2023, Bethesda released Starfield, an open-world RPG set in space. It was even described by its director as “Skyrim in space”. Unfortunately, the game suffered years of delays until it was finally released. Despite various criticisms and bad reviews, it still managed to snag a couple of awards, most notably the Xbox Game of the Year and Most Innovative Gameplay in 2023. Still, the topic of Starfield coming to PS is still debated and we heard some interesting information about that from some reliable sources.

Tom Warren Claims That Starfield Was Supposed to Already Have a PlayStation 5 Port

A couple of days ago, Tom Warren from The Verge joined the XB2+1, a famous gaming podcast hosted by Jez Corden and Rand al Thor 19, where they talked about Xbox and the highly anticipated ports of some famous Xbox games to PlayStation.

When they touched on the subject of Starfield and the PS5 port, Warren said that: “they were they were originally going to do it…and then I don’t know what happened there.”

Jes mentioned that dataminers have already found some PlayStation icons in the game, and Tom continues by saying that the port should be ready for the upcoming Stafrield expansion, scheduled for later this year. “…they have been working on it for a while so it should be ready.” On that last note, Rand was a bit skeptical, mentioning that the Forza Horizon port was supposed to happen last year, but it didn’t.

So, while we don’t doubt Mr. Warren’s words, there are a lot of “shoulds” and “probablys” in all of this, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.
