“Stop Bullying Lords!” Some Marvel Rivals Players Are Switching off Lord Icons as the Community Puts Too Much Pressure on Them

No one should be judged by how they play a game. We all play games to relax and unwind, so why would anyone want to ruin another player’s experience? Everyone has been in a game where a player with the Lord Icon didn’t perform perfectly, right? And, usually, that player gets called out or blamed for the loss. Well, the Marvel Rivals community has decided to put a stop to bullying Lord players, as their experience has gotten overwhelmingly bad.

Being Lord Isn’t Easy

Lately, we’ve seen plenty of players complaining that they were targeted because they were displaying their Lord icons. This usually meant the other players overly criticized them for their performance. Or, in some cases, the players hunted the player down because someone wanted to “kill the Lord”.

One player, Feverpig, shared their experience. They explained they switched off their Lord icons after being bullied in almost every game they played. When they did so, the bullying stopped. In other words, even though this player was mainly bullied for their “poor performance”, nobody complained about their performance once they were just one of the players.

The OP noted: “I play QP mostly. Overall, I think I’m an okay player. I win more than I lose, and I get MVP here and there. I mostly play Strategist. But no matter what lord hero I play, I instantly get singled out if we lose. I have 4 Lord heroes now. Rocket, Peni, Winter Soldier, and Loki. This happens on all of them, but especially WS and Loki for some reason”.

Marvel Rivals Community Stands by Bullied Lord Players

How does one get Lord status in Marvel Rivals? By grinding, basically. Even though one’s skill level certainly improves after spending hours upon hours on the same Hero, that doesn’t mean they are the best Hero around. And that’s completely fine. Also, even if someone is an amazing player, they might have a bad day. We all have them, and no one should be shamed for trying to relax by playing their favorite game.

The Marvel Rivals community strongly agrees with this stance. The majority of players have a strict no-bullying policy, but still, some individuals continue to harass others. So, what can you do if someone bullies you?

Well, first of all, you should try to ignore the haters. KyloWork stated: “I keep mine shown because not a single thing some sad internet nerd says to me will make me feel bad about myself. It’s a video game”. Once you start thinking like that, your life will get easier.

One player, SiriusVoids, gave some great advice. They noted: “Taking off your Lord icon shows how much you care what others think instead of being the best you can be. If they’re toxic, just mute them, it’s easier than removing a lord icon. Also, if you think having no Lord icon will stop people from being toxic to you, then you’re in for a surprise”.

So, keep rocking that Lord icon, you’ve earned it. Don’t listen to haters, and if they get toxic, block them. You have every right to enjoy the game without having to deal with them. This especially goes to all Strategists, since this role is usually the most underappreciated. Having to play support alone because no one wants to switch is hard. Hopefully, with the Adam buff, things will change. Enjoy and see you out there.
