Stranger Things is heading to theaters for the second time in 2026 with Tales from ’85

Stranger Things may have aired its series finale to kick off 2026, but the franchise isn’t done yet. An animated spinoff series is set to premiere in April, and you’ll have the chance to see it early in theaters before its debut on Netflix.

The first two episodes of Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 are receiving a theatrical release on Saturday, April 18. 34 theaters across the United States will show them, and tickets go on sale Wednesday at 11 a.m. EDT. Head to AMC to see the list of participating theaters and to snag your tickets.

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 takes place between seasons 2 and 3 of the show and follows the cast of characters that you were first introduced to (checks notes) damn near a decade ago. Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Max, Hopper, and the rest return, though they won’t be voiced by their live-action counterparts.

Marty Supreme‘s Odessa A’zion joins the cast as a new character, Nikki Baxter. “Nikki provides a fresh new perspective on the status quo, shaking up dynamics and points-of-view. And perhaps even more importantly, she brings us โ€” and the rest of the Stranger Things crew โ€” an exciting, fresh roster of danger and monsters unlike anything our kids have ever faced before,” showrunner Eric Robles told Collider.

Tales from ’85 is set during the winter in Hawkins and finds the kids easing back to a normal life โ€” until threats from the Upside Down rear their ugly heads, of course. One of them is a toothy monster reminiscent of a jack-o’-lantern. Gross!

If you miss out on the theatrical premiere of Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, you won’t have to wait long to return to Hawkins. The animated series will debut on Netflix on April 23.
