Subnautica 2: Krafton Reportedly Plans To Extend the Timeline of Million Bonus for Unknown Worlds Employees to 2026

Krafton and Subnautica 2’s former leadership are in the in midst of an ongoing legal battle. Unknown Worlds, Subnautica 2’s developer were supposed to get a $250 million performance based bonus of which 10% was to be given to employees. A new report now says that Krafton is now planning to extend the potential bonus payout of $25 million.

The report by Bloomberg states that Krafton plans to extend the potential bonus payout until next year. About 40 employees are eligible for the $25 million payout, if the studio can hit the revenue target set by Krafton.

Krafton bought Subnautica 2’s studio back in October 2021 for $500 million. Another additional performance-based payment, worth $250 million, was to be given to the studio in 2026. The rest of the money was to be split between the former leadership of Unknown Worlds studio.

The Bloomberg report also mentions that the now ousted leadership were going to receive $225 million. They actually planned on distributing it with the employees of Unknown Worlds who were not part of the 40 employees eligible for the bonus.

Things started to get messy between Krafton and Unknown World’s former leadership, when the former replaced the leadership with Steve Papoutsis, formerly CEO at Striking Dance. After that, Cleveland put out a statement on Reddit intimating that him and his colleagues believed that Subnautica 2 was ready for early access, but the “decision is in Krafton’s hands.”
