Ah, you know it’s high time for an update once the players undemocratically start questioning if they are the baddies. This isn’t the first time that Helldivers 2 players have accused Super Earth of being the bad guy. This time, the phrasing in a briefing raised quite a few eyebrows.
Super Earth Might Be More Dangerous Than Helldivers Would Like to Believe
As you probably know by now, the Helldivers unexpectedly managed to complete the previous Major Order. And, as always, a briefing arrived just as the MO ended. Usually, these briefings reflect on the MO and provide some hints about what’s to come.
The latest briefing did something similar. It reflected on the victory, mentioned that the facilities on Fenrir III were being rebuilt, and the Repulsive Gravity Field Generator was almost finished. That’s all fine, well done Helldivers, etc.
However, the last paragraph of the briefing is a bit more… sinister. Helldivers needed to “collect” Voteless for research, and they did. The briefing states: “Additionally, millions of pacified Voteless specimens were collected and are now undergoing cranial dissection. Thanks to the Helldivers, our Federation is one step closer to a deeper understanding of mind control. Which is, of course, useful solely for developing defenses against mind control”.

Um, excuse us? That sounds like Super Earth will most definitely use this research for much more than defending against mind control. Also, this isn’t the first time a briefing sounded slightly threatening. We are all aware of Super Earth, um, keeping an eye on citizens, and taking a page out of Orwell’s 1984, but mind control is on a whole other level. What’s next? The Chaosdivers’ conspiracy theory will turn out to be correct?
Helldivers Are Mostly Okay With These Implications
Even though some Helldivers 2 players are horrified that Super Earth might be bad, the majority of players don’t really question it. Some even want Super Earth to be even more extreme.
Tetelesthai noted: “Trust them, they only have your best interests at heart”. Another player, cakestabber, added: “Can’t be mind-controlled by the Illuminate if you’re already being mind-controlled by Super Earth you submit your mind and free will to the superior democratic wisdom of Super Earth”.
Sufficient-Pin-1512 stated: “Super Earth has no need to mind control its citizens, since every single one of us already has an unyielding faith in Freedom, Liberty, Prosperity, and most importantly, Managed Democracy! (and for any dissident there’s always our trusty wall)”.
So, um, yeah, Super Earth is the most democratic of all. There’s no reason for being suspicious… at all. For the time being, we’ll be diving on Gaellivare. Will you join us? For Liberty and Super Earth.
