Switch 2 launches this week. Are you getting it?

It’s finally time for a brand new console release with the Nintendo Switch 2 launching on June 5 worldwide (for those who were able to get a pre-order) alongside several games, including Mario Kart World, Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4.

I am excited. Not only to play all these new games on a brand new system, but also to see how old Switch 1 games fare when they get a Switch 2 patch, such as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Maybe I’ll finally be able to shiny hunt Pokémon without frames dropping every second…

I know I’ve been talking about the Switch 2 to death over the past few weeks, but it’s hard not to when it’s a brand-new Nintendo console launching with a killer (even if expensive) first-party title and then the lineup afterwards being stellar. This year alone, we have Donkey Kong Bananza, Metroid Prime 4, Pokémon Legends Z-A, a new Hyrule Warriors game, and a new Kirby Air Ride sequel, all to look forward to before 2026 even comes about.

So I have to wonder, Destructoid faithful, if you plan to get the Nintendo Switch 2 this week? oO if you are planning to hold off a bit for some kind of price cut, second updated system, or whatever reason you can’t get one straight away. I know pre-orders have been painful to find in some places after all, and not everyone can afford a new system on launch, especially a few months after its initial reveal.

Let me know in the comments below, and maybe I might see you online as I’ll definitely be playing a lot of Mario Kart World’s various new modes over the weekend. I am curious if there will be any type of ranked mode this time, though, for certain modes rather than the points system they had for Mario Kart 8.
