On June 13, 2022, Sony launched a new and improved PlayStation Plus in North America. Split into three tiers, this model combines the previous version of PS Plus with PS Now; depending on which level someone subscribes to, they will gain access to certain services and games.
- PlayStation Plus Essential ($9.99/month): This tier is the equivalent of the old PS Plus. A subscription includes online access, monthly free games, and discounts.
- PlayStation Plus Extra ($14.99/month): Along with the Essential tier benefits, Extra provides access to hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games.
- PlayStation Plus Premium ($17.99/month): Along with the Essential and Extra tier benefits, Premium includes a library of classic games (PS3, PS2, PSP, and PS1), trials, and cloud streaming in certain regions.
PS Plus Premium has over 700 games covering more than two decades of PlayStation history. Such a huge collection can be overwhelming, and the PS Plus app does not make it very easy to browse through the library; as such, it can be useful to know this tier’s highlights before investing in a subscription. Each month, Sony adds a handful of new games. While most of these are PS5 and PS4 releases, they are occasionally accompanied by a few classic titles.
Let’s take a look at some of the best PS Plus games.
Newly added PS Plus games will be highlighted first.
Updated on November 25, 2025, by Mark Sammut: PS Plus Extra and Premium’s November 2025 games have been available for a while, so we have added two of the month’s biggest arrivals.
Grand Theft Auto 5
In Terms Of Popularity, This Is The Biggest Game On PS Plus
Rockstar’s GTA 5 seems to come and go from PlayStation Plus as it pleases, a privilege earned by the fact that it is the second-best-selling game of all time. When you have that type of reach, you can do what you want. The thing is, GTA 5 is arguably not that great of a subscription service game, just because so many people already own it in some form or another. There cannot be too many folks who are just visiting Los Santos for the first time, at least not if they are remotely interested in open-world sandboxes.
All GTA 5 Cheats for PS5
Those playing the game on PlayStation can use these GTA 5 PS5 cheats to liven up the single-player experience.
Still, PS Plus would not feel complete without GTA 5 and GTA Online. They are effectively synonymous with gaming nowadays, and it will always be fun to jump into Los Santos and mess around for a couple of hours. You can go through the story if you haven’t yet, but GTA is at its best when you are acting your worst in its playgrounds.
Red Dead Redemption will be available on PS Plus Extra from December 2, 2025. I’m excited.
Pacific Drive
Not Necessarily The Best Survival Game On PS Plus, But A Unique One
Survival games are an acquired taste, but when done right, they can be complete time-sinks. Pacific Drive sets itself apart from the crowd by emphasizing the player’s mode of transportation, a station wagon that has seen better days but still has some mileage left in it. Like with all survival games, you will spend a lot of time acquiring resources and maintaining both your needs and your car’s requirements; however, for better or worse, Pacific Drive puts a stronger emphasis on atmosphere and story than most entries in the genre.
Pacific Drive is one of those releases that you have to try to know if it is for you, and that includes people who are generally into survival games. It is a pretty one-of-a-kind and immersive experience, but it can also be overwhelming and exhausting. Personally, I was happy that I played Pacific Drive, even though it did not fully click with me.
Silent Hill 2 (Remake)
A Very Good Remake Of A Great Horror Game
Ask anybody who grew up with a PS2 what their favorite horror game is, and they are likely to mention Silent Hill 2. When Bloober Team’s remake was announced, the reaction was primarily fueled by trepidation and fear that the original’s brilliance would be lost when revisited through a modern lens. However, the exact opposite happened, as the 2024 version proved to be one of the genre’s better efforts of the 2020s, along with marking a return to form and prominence for Silent Hill.
Retelling James Sunderland’s story without too many changes, the remake wisely opted to focus on the technical side of things, delivering top-notch visuals, audio work, and modern controls. Combat is a bit more prominent than in the original version, but James is still far from a soldier and comes across as weak during these sections, which is the point. If you have never played Silent Hill 2, this version is a good entry point; if you grew up with Konami’s masterpiece, the remake should be a fun trip down memory lane.
The Last Of Us Part 1
Possibly The Best Game On PS Plus
Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us brought the PS3 era to an end on the strongest possible note, producing an industry-defining game that has gone on to produce a big sequel and a highly-regarded TV adaptation. While the original release is not on PS Plus Premium, subscribers can check out the PS4 remaster, which is fantastic. PS5 owners can also play The Last of Us Part 1, a 2022 remake that gives the classic release a pretty thorough makeover. Honestly, if someone has already played through the original or remastered versions, they might not get too much out of the remake since the best part, the story, is unchanged. However, newcomers can just jump into this iteration.
The Last of Us follows Joel and Ellie as they go on a harrowing journey through a post-apocalyptic United States, all in the hopes of finding a group that might be able to create a cure using the latter’s immunity to a fungus that has eradicated most humanity. Blending stealth, melee combat, and exploration, the gameplay sections are intense, visceral, and relatively challenging. More importantly, the story and characters are phenomenal, comfortably among the best in PlayStation history.
Bloodborne
No, This Is Probably The Best Game On PS Plus
Boasting a Gothic aesthetic and reflex-based combat that demands aggression from players, Bloodborne delivers a kinetic experience that shines on a visual, auditory, and gameplay level. Naturally, FromSoftware’s masterpiece is not an easy game, but it is one of the most rewarding PS4 exclusives. Consequently, it is easily among the best games on PS Plus, while also being a personal favorite of mine.
Although not devoid of technical and performance issues, Bloodborne‘s environments, combat, boss designs, atmosphere, and storytelling are arguably among the very best in the Soulslike genre, if not just action RPGs in general. Therefore, I recommend pushing through the first hour or so until you start to get used to the lower framerate compared to more modern releases.
Both versions of Demon’s Souls are also on PS Plus.
Cyberpunk 2077
The Long Road To Redemption Leads To One Of The Greatest Open-World Games Ever
In 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 was the most controversial game on the market, particularly the PS4-era version. The PS5 iteration was always playable, but certain issues kept it from being an ideal experience. Jump forward a few years, and CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi RPG has made a near-full recovery, not only establishing itself as the ultimate comeback story but also proving successful enough that even iterative updates like the upcoming 2.3 are capable of sparking widespread excitement.
Cyberpunk 2077 Patch Tier List
As Cyberpunk 2077’s Patch 2.3 looms around the corner, this tier list ranks all major patches, from game-changing to those meant to put out fires.
Set in the impressive Night City, Cyberpunk 2077 blends clever character writing with an ambitious overarching storyline and enjoyable first-person gunplay that is backed by augmentation options. The game is not very difficult by any stretch of the imagination, but V can be turned into a walking god that destroys everyone, which is fun in its own right. If this is your first time trying Cyberpunk 2077, you are in store for what should be a fantastic experience.
Risk of Rain 2
Ready To Have Your Life Consumed By A Roguelike Game?
On paper, it is kind of difficult to get excited about a game that debuted in 2020 and has never been particularly hard to access. However, Risk of Rain 2‘s PS Plus Extra debut still felt like a massive deal, simply due to its sheer quality. If you are one of the few people who have never tried Hopoo Games’ masterpiece, prepare yourself for a seemingly simplistic shooter that contains so much hidden depth and secrets that it can straight up become your life for a few months (or years).
In the main mode, players are dropped onto an alien planet, where they have to kill, loot, and eventually find a teleporter to move to the next stage. Like with most roguelikes, you will be constantly growing stronger during a Risk of Rain 2 playthrough, all the while unlocking new permanent characters that can be used in subsequent runs. They aren’t just a palette swap either, as each character has unique abilities that set them apart from the crowd.
God Of War Ragnarok
One Of The Best PlayStation Console Exclusives On PS Plus
A direct sequel to 2018’s God of War, Ragnarok brings the franchise’s Norse saga to an end, or at least I assume that is the case. As suggested by the title, the story revolves around the pending onset of Ragnarok, an end-of-the-world event said to coincide with the destruction of the realms and the gods. Kratos wants to stop that, but he is also on the cusp of war with Odin; in the meantime, the All-Father is trying to bring Atreus to his side.
Gameplay-wise, Ragnarok plays similarly to 2018’s God of War, albeit with a few tweaks and the introduction of a new weapon. The combat is still crunchy, satisfying, and intense; that said, if someone hated the system in the previous game, they likely will not get too much out of the sequel. While Atreus is still the main companion, Kratos is also aided by a few other characters, all of whom have unique abilities that are fun to use in battles. The campaign is fairly long and generally ambitious, blending character-driven moments with an epic sense of scale. Ragnarok also comes with Valhalla, an epilogue mode that is just all-around brilliant.
Celeste
Story-Driven 2D Platformer With High Skill Ceiling
Celeste is a highly regarded side-scrolling indie game with a steep learning curve and an absorbing narrative. As Madeline, players climb the Celeste mountain, taking on seemingly impossible challenges and dangerous foes in the process.
Celeste‘s campaign guides the character and players on an emotional journey of self-discovery. This voyage is not meant to be easy, and the game makes sure that it is not. The unforgettable story is accompanied by precise gameplay and a soundtrack that ranks among the most memorable of the late 2010s.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
A Dependable PlayStation IP’s PS5 Debut
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is among the most high-profile PS5 games available on PS Plus Extra. As a console exclusive, this reveal seemed destined to transpire sooner or later, although almost two years from the game’s debut had to pass for this moment to arrive. Rift Apart might very well still be the most beautiful PS5 title on the market, a testament to Insomniac’s mastery of technology and talent for creating vibrant and stunning worlds that would not look out of place in a Pixar movie.
Rift Apart backs up its good looks with fantastic gameplay and an enjoyable story that allows its lovable characters to shine. Although Ratchet and his robotic companion take center stage, they are accompanied by a new playable Lombax in the form of Rivet, who also comes with her own partner. In combat, the characters largely control the same; however, the game does a great job of establishing Rivet’s own identity through her personality.
Ultimately, Ratchet & Clank lives and dies on the strength of its gameplay, and Rift Apart is right up there with the franchise’s best efforts. Ratchet and Rivet have access to a wide assortment of fun weapons, all of which serve a purpose within the campaign.
